Part-Time Clinical Research Coordinator

Job Title: Clinical Research Coordinator Job Description The Clinical Research Coordinator will support a clinical trial at a research site in the Birmingham, AL area. In this part-time role (approximately 20 hours per week), you will identify and recruit eligible participants, guide them through the enrollment process, educate them about the study, and help ensure they remain engaged and compliant throughout the trial. The position requires strong clinical research experience, excellent organizational skills, and confident communication with both participants and research staff. Responsibilities + Review electronic medical records (EMR) to assess potential participants against protocol-defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. + Conduct pre-screening of potential participants to determine eligibility based on study requirements. + Recruit and enroll participants into the clinical trial in accordance with study protocols and applicable regulatory standards. + Provide clear, thorough education to participants about the clinical trial, including study procedures, expectations, risks, benefits, and follow-up requirements. + Maintain ongoing communication with participants to support retention and ensure continued compliance with study protocols. + Schedule in-person visits and follow-up appointments, and send reminders and relevant information to participants in a timely and organized manner. + Document chart reviews, pre-screening activities, and all participant interactions accurately and promptly in the EMR and study records. + Ensure all patient recruitment and chart review activities align with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and privacy regulations. + Collaborate closely with research staff to support smooth trial operations and address any participant-related issues or protocol concerns. + Uphold high standards of attention to detail in all aspects of data entry, documentation, and participant communication. Essential Skills + Proven experience working as a Clinical Research Coordinator. + At least 1+ year of experience in patient recruitment for clinical trials. + At least 1+ year of experience working with electronic medical records (EMR). + Formal training in HIPAA regulations and patient privacy. + Formal training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP). + Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple participants and tasks simultaneously. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills for educating participants and collaborating with research staff. + Ability to interpret and apply protocol-defined eligibility criteria during chart reviews and pre-screening. + High level of accuracy and attention to detail in documentation and data entry. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience conducting chart reviews to identify eligible patients for clinical studies. + Experience in patient-facing clinical or research roles, such as coordinating study visits and follow-up. + Comfort working within fast-paced clinical research environments. + Ability to build rapport with participants and encourage long-term engagement in the study. + Strong time management skills to effectively handle part-time hours while meeting recruitment and follow-up targets. Work Environment This is a part-time position, averaging around 20 hours per week, operating during normal business hours. The work takes place in a fast-paced clinical research setting that requires consistent attention to detail, accurate documentation, and timely communication with participants and research staff. You will primarily work with electronic medical records and study documentation systems, coordinating in-person visits and follow-up appointments within a professional clinical environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
