A Brief Overview
The Oncology RN is responsible for coordinating patient care. Assesses information that is given to them from the patient via phone or in person, communicating information to providers and obtains orders if needed. Provides triaging to patients with symptom management and provides recommendations from the provider. Administration of a variety of different medications intravenously for chronic conditions. Assists with wound assessment and dressing applications. Management of Medtronic pumps and refill of medications.

Education Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) Preferred

Experience Qualifications

• Experience in a clinic setting. Preferred

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. (Required proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse - KSBN Required
• Basic Life Support - BLS RQI or other certifications may be required in lieu of or in addition to BLS depending on department. Must have within 90 days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - ACLS Required within 90 days of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support - PALS Required within 90 days of hire.

• Develops a collaborative plan encompassing strategies to achieve expected outcomes. Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation.
• Promote infection prevention through use of standard precautions, proper procedure in dressing changes, wound care, hand hygiene and cleanliness of the patient rooms/department
• Implements identified plan through coordination of care and employs strategies to promote health and wellness.
• Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
• Delivers professional nursing care guided by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring illustrated by creating caring relationships, taking time to have uninterrupted moments with patients and displaying unconditional acceptance and respect.
• Promotes a mutually respectful environment that encourages the exchange of ideas, supports the effectiveness of professional relationships, and integrates ethics in all aspects of practice.
