About the Role We're seeking a dependable and skilled Class B Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The ideal candidate will have hands-on machining experience, a solid understanding of CNC machining practices, and the ability to produce high-quality parts while following engineering drawings, work instructions, and established manufacturing procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for a machinist who is comfortable performing routine setups and machining operations with limited supervision and is interested in continuing to develop advanced machining and programming skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and/or manual machining equipment with limited supervision.
• Manufacture parts according to engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and job requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Select and install appropriate tooling and make routine machine adjustments as needed.
• Verify tooling, offsets, and setup information before and during machining operations.
• Perform in-process inspections to ensure parts meet required specifications.
• Use precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and height gauges.
• Monitor machining operations and identify issues related to tooling, dimensions, surface finish, or machine performance.
• Make routine adjustments to maintain dimensional requirements and tolerances.
• Complete manufacturing, inspection, and production documentation accurately.
• Report machining, tooling, drawing, or quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor or Quality Assurance team.
• Follow established quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures.
• Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
• Collaborate effectively with senior machinists, supervisors, Quality Assurance, and other production personnel.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Machinist or CNC Machinist in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC machining equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Working knowledge of machining practices, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and basic tooling selection.
• Understanding of dimensional tolerances and basic GD&T requirements.
• Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
• Ability to perform routine machine setups and adjustments with limited supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Ability to follow written procedures, work instructions, and job-specific requirements.
• Dependable, reliable, and able to work effectively as part of a manufacturing team.

What We're Looking For The ideal Class B Machinist has a strong foundation in machining and can independently handle routine setups, machining operations, inspections, and adjustments. You should be comfortable reading drawings, using precision measuring tools, maintaining required tolerances, and verifying the quality of your work. We are also looking for someone eager to continue learning more advanced setups, machining techniques, programming, and troubleshooting while working alongside experienced machinists.
