Job Summary
American Custom Metal Fabricating is seeking a Maintenance Lead to join our growing team. This position plays a key role in ensuring the functionality, reliability, and safety of our facility, equipment, and building systems.
The Maintenance Lead oversees and coordinates maintenance activities, evaluates equipment and facility issues, assigns work, and performs or coordinates repairs and preventative maintenance. The ideal candidate is a proactive, skilled professional who can identify problems, prioritize work, provide technical guidance, and help foster a safe, productive, and collaborative work environment.
Essential Job Functions
- Coordinate and oversee maintenance activities involving electrical, plumbing, ventilation, mechanical, pneumatic, and other building and equipment systems.
- Perform initial evaluations of building systems, machinery, and equipment to identify problems and determine appropriate repair or maintenance needs.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a preventative maintenance program for applicable equipment, machinery, and building systems.
- Schedule and assign maintenance work based on priority, employee skill level, equipment needs, and production requirements.
- Perform minor and major repairs on buildings, machinery, and equipment. Major repairs requiring licensed personnel will be performed under the appropriate supervision.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, including inspecting belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, greasing bearings and seals, and replacing or repairing worn or broken components.
- Troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair pneumatic systems.
- Assist with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, ventilation, and other facility maintenance as needed.
- Repair or replace doors, locks, windows, blinds, and other building components.
- Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance tools, equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Coordinate with building management and leadership regarding maintenance needs and budget development.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checklists and maintain accurate records of completed and scheduled maintenance.
- Provide training and guidance to maintenance employees on equipment, techniques, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Ensure maintenance employees have the knowledge, skills, tools, and resources necessary to perform assigned work.
- Assist employees with maintenance-related administrative and human resources matters when needed.
- Enforce and promote sound safety, housekeeping, and preventative maintenance practices.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and facility issues to minimize downtime and maintain safe operating conditions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance area.
- Communicate effectively with management, production personnel, and other departments regarding maintenance concerns and project status.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or trade school diploma required.
- Minimum of 5 years of related maintenance experience preferred .
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or lead technician experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, mechanical, and building maintenance systems.
- Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, maintenance procedures, and technical documentation.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work cooperatively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Commitment to workplace safety and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is a very active position requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move items weighing 50 pounds or more . The position may require working in confined areas, at elevated heights, around machinery, and in varying environmental conditions.
