Job Summary
Develops and produces video, photography, and written content for internal and external communications, including marketing, public information, recruitment, and education. Combines strong visual production skills with storytelling and writing to create engaging, audience-focused content that highlights MSD's services and community impact. Works independently and as part of a team while coordinating multiple projects under shifting priorities and deadlines.
Essential Job Functions
Produces, shoots, edits and delivers video stories, features, announcements, recruitment materials, and campaign content for internal and external audiences. Photographs MSD facilities, construction projects, personnel, community events, and infrastructure projects for print, digital, and marketing use. Develops story ideas and identifies opportunities to highlight MSD's work and impact in the community. Writes scripts, social media content, captions, and supporting written materials for multimedia projects. Conducts interviews with staff, partners, and community members to gather content for storytelling. Directs and coaches on-camera talent and interview subjects. Provides both still photography and video production from concept through final delivery. Delivers communications via video walls and other internal channels, as well as externally through social media and public events. Coordinates production activities including location planning, equipment setup, lighting, audio capture, directing interview subjects, and post-production editing. Assists the Communications and Public Relations staff with media events, press conferences, and emergency response communications. Collaborates with external customers, clients, and partners, and works frequently with employees across all departments. Ensures content aligns with organizational priorities, messaging, and brand voice. Performs other duties as assigned to support team objectives and organizational priorities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Necessary to the Work
Knowledge of digital video recording, still photography, camera operation, editing and graphics; knowledge of video lighting and audio capture techniques; skill in writing and storytelling; skill in the use of editing software such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premier, and Photoshop; skill in operating professional camera systems, including DSLR/Mirrorless camera and 35mm camera systems, along with associated lenses, lighting, and audio equipment; skill in oral and written communication; ability to produce clear, audience-focused content; ability to independently plan and execute production elements including location, equipment, and sht composition; ability to operate a PC and associated Windows environment software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite); ability to use MagicInfo video wall program and/or other digital signage programs/equipment; ability to handle multiple priorities; ability to be courteous and helpful under pressure; ability to work effectively under heavy, unpredictable surges in workload and deadline pressure; ability to work 24 hour emergency response.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in journalism, video production, mass communication or a related field; three or more years of related experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Experience in a newsroom, media environment, or content-driven communications role preferred. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have safe work and driving habits.
