Coordinator, Title III First-Year Experience (FYE)

First-Year Experience (FYE) Coordinator (Full-Time | 9-Month Faculty) Western Piedmont Community College (WPCC) seeks a student-centered, innovative, and collaborative First-Year Experience (FYE) Coordinator to lead the College's First-Year Experience program and Academic Success (ACA) curriculum. This faculty leadership position provides strategic direction for the College's first-year experience initiatives while teaching Academic Success courses, developing faculty, coordinating student engagement programming, and fostering a culture of belonging that supports student persistence, retention, completion, and transfer. The successful candidate will collaborate with Academic Affairs, Student Services, faculty, staff, and community partners to design and deliver evidence-based programs that help students successfully transition to college, connect with campus resources, and achieve their academic, personal, and career goals. Under the supervision of the Dean of Arts & Sciences, the First-Year Experience Coordinator provides leadership for Academic Success (ACA) courses, oversees first-year programming, assesses program effectiveness, and advances institutional student success initiatives in accordance with North Carolina Community College System standards, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements, Title III grant objectives, and College policies. This position is funded through the College's Title III grant. Essential Responsibilities First-Year Experience Leadership Provide strategic leadership for the College's First-Year Experience program. Develop and implement a comprehensive first-year experience model that supports student success. Coordinate the implementation of Academic Success (ACA) coursework across participating academic programs. Establish annual goals, assessment plans, and continuous improvement strategies for the First-Year Experience program. Coordinate Title III initiatives related to first-year student success. Ensure compliance with College policies, NCCCS requirements, grant objectives, and accreditation standards. Instruction Teach assigned Academic Success (ACA) courses using innovative, student-centered instructional practices. Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with approved learning outcomes. Deliver instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, and online learning environments. Utilize instructional technology and evidence-based teaching practices to enhance student learning. Maintain current knowledge of first-year experience and student success best practices. Faculty Leadership and Development Coordinate scheduling of Academic Success courses. Recruit, train, mentor, and support ACA faculty. Promote instructional excellence through coaching, collaboration, and professional development. Coordinate textbook adoption and instructional resources. Foster consistency in curriculum delivery and student learning outcomes. Student Success and Engagement Develop and coordinate co-curricular programming that complements Academic Success curriculum. Collaborate with Student Services to strengthen student engagement and belonging. Identify barriers to student success and implement proactive support strategies. Connect students with campus resources and support services. Promote student persistence, retention, completion, and transfer through holistic support initiatives. Curriculum, Assessment, and Continuous Improvement Coordinate curriculum development and revision for Academic Success courses. Assess student learning outcomes and program effectiveness. Analyze student success data to guide continuous improvement. Support institutional effectiveness and accreditation activities. Prepare reports supporting Title III objectives and program assessment. Collaboration and College Service Collaborate with faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners to advance student success initiatives. Serve on departmental, divisional, and College committees. Participate in commencement, College events, recruitment activities, and professional development. Represent the College in regional, state, and national professional organizations when appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned. Applicants must meet the minimum faculty credential requirements established by the North Carolina Community College System and Western Piedmont Community College. Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution Teaching experience in higher education Preference may be given to applicants who possess one or more of the following: Community college teaching experience Experience teaching Academic Success (ACA) or First-Year Experience courses Experience in student advising, counseling, coaching, or academic support services Experience coordinating student success initiatives Experience with Title III or other grant-funded programs Experience using Moodle/Open LMS, Ellucian Colleague, Watermark Student Success & Engagement, or similar educational technologies Experience with CliftonStrengths™ or strengths-based student development Submission of an application does not guarantee an interview or employment.
