Substitute Bus Driver Lewistown School District 1 Transportation - Lewistown, Montana Open in Google Maps This job is also posted in Lewistown School District 1 Job Details Job ID: 4409755 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Re-Posted: Sep 27, 2023 12:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Lewistown Public Schools Job Description Job Title: ROUTE BUS DRIVER/ACTIVITY BUS DRIVER Classification: TRANS II Reports To: Transportation Director FLSA Status: Nonexempt/Classified Updated: June 2018 Work Hours: Varied__up to 4-5 hours for most routes with the exception of the special education route which is up to 8 hours; more for activities depending on trip SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Transportation, operate a school bus over designated routes in accordance with time schedules, to safely and courteously transport students to and from school and activities; conducts classroom and behind-the-wheel driver training and other related duties; perform a variety of transportation department functions, including general office assistance, by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Other duties may be assigned. Conducts bus driver classroom and behind-the-wheel training sessions and maintains records related to training hours. Participates in training in areas of bus driving, safety and skills, first aid, and CPR. Assists the Director of Transportation in a variety of department support functions as directed. Obeys all traffic laws and maintains safe driving record. Complies with local traffic regulations. Reports delays or accidents. Responsible for pre-trip safety inspections, completing daily inspection reports and notifying Transportation Director of any defects. Maintains discipline when students are on bus and reports undisciplined students to the proper authority. Transports only authorized students and discharges students only at authorized stops. Maintains a clean bus; interior and exterior. Adheres to published route schedules and is punctual to work. Works cooperatively and effectively with staff, supervisors, students, parents and public. The above performance responsibilities are not all-inclusive and may be altered or added to by the Transportation Director. QUALIFICATIONS - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age, have a high school diploma or general education diploma (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The special education route requires experience working with special populations. Prefer advanced driver's training or equivalent. LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS - Must hold a valid Montana Type II Class B driver's license with air brake endorsement, current first aid certification and physical exam card. Prefer advanced driver's training certification.
