Energy Storage Project Engineer

DescriptionKforce has a client in Juno Beach, FL that is seeking an Energy Storage Project Engineer.Responsibilities:* Support design phase and engineer major components for large-scale energy storage projects* Recognize inconsistencies in engineering drawings, take corrective action, and strive for better design quality and efficiency* Identify and resolve errors in engineering studies and suggest future solutions* Prepare technical scopes of work for contracts* Support projects from inception to completion by working closely with project managers* Influence project teams on engineering tasks* Stay updated on project progress and technical issues* Manage project milestones and recognize risks* Collaborate with suppliers to integrate major equipment* Work with diverse teams to solve problems, improve opportunities, and integrate systems and controls* Understand specifications for major equipment purchasing, ensure clear communication, and propose solutions* Understand permitting requirements, propose solutions to legal challenges, and recommend site design improvements* Handle other assigned duties as needed* Travel 25% of the time for project specific dutiesRequirements* Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Mechanical engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program* 5+ years of proven engineering experience* Experience with design and/or operation of large-scale power generation or processing plants involving adherence to regulatory requirements while maximizing the performance and reliability of technically complex systems* Hands-on experience or strong knowledge of construction methods, including foundations, trenching, electrical terminations and testing, and best safety practices* Strong knowledge of technologies in energy storage including varying battery chemistries, power conversion units and DC-DC converters* Lithium-ion battery storage safety: Familiarity with UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, applicable IFC/IBC sections* Familiarity with interconnection studies and GIA material modification adjustment (MMA) processes, particularly in WECC and CAISO* Construction permitting and contracting* Shows maturity of technical expertise and assumes responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively conveying technical and non-technical concepts to diverse audiencesSME in substation or utility scale energy storage design and/or project management, with established expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred:* Power electronics* Battery storage system design* Substation design* Generation tie design* Data CentersJob TypeContractCompensation63 - $68
