Vice President of Product Development

James Search Group is partnering with a leading global P&C insurance carrier to appoint a Vice President of Product Development . This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for shaping enterprise product strategy and driving the development and evolution of commercial insurance offerings across multiple business lines. This position plays a critical role in connecting underwriting, actuarial, and operational functions—owning the full product lifecycle from concept and design through regulatory approval, launch, and ongoing performance management. The Role As VP, Product Development, you will translate strategic business priorities into structured, executable product initiatives while leading cross-functional collaboration across underwriting, actuarial, claims, legal, compliance, IT, and distribution. You will ensure product initiatives are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and with a clear focus on profitable growth. Base salary: $270,000 – $300,000 + performance bonus 401(k) with company match Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage Key Responsibilities Lead the development and enhancement of commercial insurance products, including coverage design and endorsements Turn business opportunities into clearly defined product plans with timelines, approvals, and measurable outcomes Partner with underwriting and actuarial teams to align pricing strategy, product structures, and risk guidelines Oversee rate, rule, and form filings, ensuring regulatory compliance and stakeholder alignment Drive end-to-end product launches, ensuring operational readiness across all business functions Establish and lead a disciplined product lifecycle management framework, including performance monitoring and continuous improvement Maintain visibility across the enterprise product portfolio, pipeline, and key milestones Identify opportunities for innovation based on market trends, broker feedback, and internal insights What We’re Looking For 10+ years of experience within commercial insurance, focused on product development, underwriting, or product leadership Leadership experience at Director or VP level across lines such as casualty, property, excess, or financial lines Strong knowledge of policy forms, pricing approaches, and regulatory filing processes Proven track record of successfully launching and managing profitable insurance products Experience operating within complex, matrixed environments and influencing senior stakeholders Strong commercial mindset with the ability to balance growth, risk, and regulatory requirements Strategic leadership with strong execution capability Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills Strong organizational and project management expertise Innovative and solutions-oriented mindset James Search Group is an equal opportunity employer.
