About the Host Position:

As a Host at PERILLA Korean American Steakhouse, you are the first and last impression of our restaurant. You create a warm, genuine welcome while managing the flow of service and ensuring every guest feels acknowledged, valued, and cared for from the moment they arrive. Your organization, communication, and hospitality help set the tone for the dining experience while supporting both our guests and the service team throughout each shift.

Dinner availability is required.

Key tasks include:

• Execute opening, in-service, and closing checklists with precision and attention to detail.

• Actively participate in pre-shift meetings, contributing to clear communication and team alignment.

• Stay updated on announcements and updates via the Sling app, reacting to each message to confirm acknowledgment.

• Prepare the host stand and entrance to ensure a welcoming and organized first impression.

• Warmly greet guests, manage reservations and waitlists, and provide accurate wait time estimates.

• Escort guests to their tables while maintaining an efficient seating rotation that supports service flow.

• Answer phone calls professionally and assist with reservations, guest inquiries, and takeout requests.

• Communicate effectively with managers, servers, and support staff regarding guest needs, special occasions, VIPs, and seating changes.

• Monitor the dining room and adjust seating to maximize efficiency without compromising the guest experience.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, entrance, menus, and lobby areas.

• Support teammates as needed, fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability.
• Experience with Open Table is preferred, but not required

About the Company:

Our company, PERILLA , is named after a plant native to Korea and many East Asian countries. It is known to be very adaptable and grows vigorously in any soil. The name is an homage to our parents who are first-generation immigrants that traveled to a foreign land and rooted themselves in new soil.

Our food is centered around a communal dining experience. Inspired by Korean flavors and ingredients, we offer our approach to the classic Chicago steakhouse and modern Korean dishes, paired alongside new and exciting takes created by Chef Andrew Lim to represent the second generation of Korean Americans and the food we love to enjoy and share.

Restaurant Information:

• Located at 225 N Wabash

• We have a positive, teamwork-driven work environment with dedicated leaders who are present and working hands-on with the team.

• We are open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service 

• Accessible by CTA.

Compensation Information:

• Paychecks are provided weekly every Friday.

• We offer direct deposit through ADP.

Position Requirements:

• Must have availability on: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

• Availability must align with service hours.

• You will be required to obtain all necessary certificates including a Food Handlers Certificate, BASSET Certificate, and an annual Sexual Harassment Training Certificate.

• Health insurance available after 90 days of employment for full-time employees averaging 32 hours a week.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($12.96) plus tips
