Registered Nurses provide patient support by delivering comprehensive, compassionate, and customized patient care – performing clinical, administrative, and clerical duties within Tennessee state scope of practice, and supporting physicians and care teams across clinic locations. All work is performed in alignment with HMA's mission, values, and commitment to high ethical and compliance standards.Core CompetenciesClinicalCollect and document patient data across all encounter types (in-person, phone, EPIC portal) — including chief complaint, vitals, allergies, medications, immunizations, and health history; complete comprehensive health assessments annually as indicated.Triage patients appropriately; notify physician or provider of abnormal findings, pending lab results, or urgent concerns in a timely manner; administer CPR as needed.Prepare and administer medications, immunizations, allergy serum, treatments, and tests per physician order and established protocol; accurately document dosages, reactions, and side effects.Conduct testing and correctly collect, label, and handle specimens and cultures; dispose of infectious and hazardous waste per infection control standards.Operate and troubleshoot clinical equipment; maintain stocked, clean, and sterile exam rooms.Assist physicians with procedures; provide patient education, discharge instructions, and wound care as directed.Manage medications — call in/e-scribe prescriptions, document sample medications, remove expired stock, and ensure secure storage of all medications and supplies.Responsible for managing EPIC work queues.Other duties as assigned.Administrative & ClericalEnsure sterile instrument processing is completed per protocol and manufacturer recommendations; maintain quality control checklists.Schedule appointments with physicians and specialists; obtain consents, pre-certifications, prior authorizations, and referrals in advance; track diagnostic studies and specialist visits to ensure follow-through.Answer phones and return all calls/voicemails within 24 hours; complete required HMA forms accurately and timely.Maintain an orderly work area; monitor and reorder supplies proactively; maintain copier and fax equipment.Attend and actively participate in clinic meetings, huddles, and required training to stay current on workflow changes and continue professional development.Other duties as assigned.Customer Service & Interpersonal SkillsEngage with patients, team members, and the public with sensitivity, courtesy, and respect in every interaction.Communicate clearly and professionally — listen actively, answer questions accurately, and go the extra mile to ensure patient needs are addressed.Mentor new employees and willingly assist colleagues to promote a team-spirited, collaborative work environment.Model behavior consistent with HMA's mission, vision, and values; avoid interactions that undermine team cohesion.Training & PreceptingServe as a clinical training resource and informal preceptor for RN I staff and newly hired nurses, sharing clinical knowledge and best practices as needed.Precept and orient new nursing staff on clinic workflows, clinical procedures, and EHR documentation; provide constructive feedback to support successful onboarding.Supports 3–4 providers.Leadership and Culture ExpectationsSupport clinical & patient excellence by creating a compassionate, responsive, and high-quality patient experience in every interaction.Provide exceptional customer service by treating patients, visitors, providers, and coworkers with professionalism, courtesy, respect, and responsiveness while supporting a positive patient experience and HMA's mission and values.Demonstrate accountability through reliability, professionalism, timely follow-through, and accurate documentation and communication.Work collaboratively with physicians, coworkers, and operational teams to support efficient clinic workflows and coordinate patient care.Communicate openly, respectfully, and professionally with patients, providers, and team members.Practice stewardship by using time, supplies, equipment, and organizational resources responsibly and efficiently.Participate in continuous improvement efforts by adapting to workflow changes, completing training, and contributing ideas that improve patient care and clinic operations.Attendance and Reliability: Regular, reliable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position, and employees are expected to comply with HMA's Attendance Policy, including established procedures for reporting absences and tardiness. Attendance requirements will be administered in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, including legally protected leave and reasonable accommodations.QualificationsQualifications & RequirementsEducation & Certification — RequiredValid Tennessee Registered Nurse (RN) license and/or compact RN license.Graduation from an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.Required Experience & SkillsMinimum of two years of experience in clinic-based nursing.Computer proficiency, including a minimum keyboarding speed of 40 words per minute (WPM) with a high degree of accuracy.Clear verbal and written communication skills, including professional telephone etiquette.Preferred ExperienceElectronic health record (EHR) experience, with familiarity with EPIC preferred.Prior experience in a large, multi-specialty physician practice strongly preferred.Prior experience precepting, mentoring, or training new clinical staff preferred.Physical Requirements & Work EnvironmentMust be able to stand for 8 to 10 hours a dayRequires regular walking, bending, pushing, pulling and liftingMust be able to lift at least 50lbsMust be able to assist patients with transfers from chair to wheelchair, to exam tables, and back to wheelchair/chairMust be able to assist patient with turning/positioning on exam tableMust be able to push patient in wheelchairMust be able to manipulate objects—reaching, grasping, handlingMust exhibit good communication skills—understand, respond and translate into actionAbility to delineate between numeric numbersClinical setting; exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, medical preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
