Fleet Mechanic

Fleet Mechanic – Idaho Falls, ID Morrow Express is looking to hire an experienced Fleet Mechanic to join our team in Idaho Falls. Our current mechanic is relocating out of state, and we’re looking for the right person to step into the position. We operate a fleet of approximately 30 Class 8 trucks and 40 trailers, primarily refrigerated trailers. We take a lot of pride in our equipment and typically replace or trade trucks within 2.5–3.5 years, so the majority of our fleet is newer, well-maintained, and under warranty. Primary Responsibilities Preventative maintenance on Class 8 trucks and trailers Light to medium mechanical repairs Truck and trailer tire work Lighting and electrical repairs Troubleshooting and diagnostics Brake and general chassis maintenance Reefer unit preventative maintenance Keeping trucks and trailers DOT compliant Identifying and addressing issues before they become larger problems Maintaining accurate service and repair records Helping keep the shop, yard, and fleet organized and maintained Most major engine, drivetrain, warranty, and heavy repair work is handled by the dealerships. We aren’t looking for someone to spend weeks rebuilding engines—we’re looking for someone who is good at keeping a modern fleet serviced, reliable, DOT compliant, and on the road. Equipment Our fleet includes Peterbilt, Freightliner, International, and Volvo trucks with: Cummins X15 Detroit DD15 Volvo D13 Scania S13 Reefer units primarily include: Thermo King C600 & S700 Carrier 7500 & 7700 Who We’re Looking For We would prefer someone who is experienced and can step into the position with minimal supervision. We’re not looking for someone who needs to be constantly told what to do. We want someone dependable who can recognize what needs attention, prioritize work, and take pride in keeping equipment in excellent condition. At the same time, we’re looking for a team player who is willing to help where needed and wants to be part of a smaller, family-run trucking company. We’re willing to pay a premium for the right person, and there is plenty of opportunity for growth for someone who proves themselves and wants to build a long-term future with the company. Responsibilities Diagnosing / Completing Repairs / Installs / Maintenance on trucks and trailers. Keeping record of repairs to input into our fleet maintenance system. Including parts lists and cost.
