We are seeking a Senior VDI Platform Engineer to support the client's program. This role will lead the design, implementation, optimization, and support of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments, delivering secure, scalable, and high-performing virtual desktop solutions. The ideal candidate will combine deep Azure Virtual Desktop expertise with strong automation, performance tuning, and cloud engineering skills.

Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.
\n
• Deploy and manage virtual desktops, host pools, application delivery, and multi-session Windows environments.
\n
• Ensure the VDI platform is secure, scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with business requirements.
\n
• Manage Azure resources including networking, storage, identity, monitoring, and virtual machines.
\n
• Develop and maintain Group Policies, user profiles, and security configurations.
\n
• Monitor platform performance, availability, and user experience using Azure monitoring tools.
\n
• Provide Tier 3 support for complex virtual desktop, application delivery, and user access issues.
\n
• Develop automation solutions using PowerShell, Azure Automation, and scripting tools.
\n
• Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, and security teams to implement best practices.
\n
• Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
\n
• Support platform modernization initiatives and continuous service improvements.

Required Skills

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
\n
• 5+ years of experience with VDI technologies and desktop virtualization.
\n
• 3+ years of experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) or similar cloud-based VDI platforms.
\n
• Strong expertise with Azure Virtual Desktop, host pools, session hosts, and application virtualization.
\n
• Experience with Azure services including Azure Active Directory, Azure Networking, Azure Storage, and Azure Monitor.
\n
• Hands-on experience with Windows 10/11 multi-session environments and Windows Server.
\n
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
\n
• Experience with Microsoft Intune, Endpoint Manager, and Group Policy administration.
\n
• Knowledge of VDI security, identity management, Conditional Access, and VPN technologies.
\n
• Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Splunk, or SolarWinds.
\n
• Strong troubleshooting, performance optimization, and problem-solving skills.
\n
• Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
\n
• Experience leading VDI projects from architecture and deployment through operational support.

Preferred Skills

\n

\n
• Microsoft Azure certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
\n
• Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, VMware Horizon, or other enterprise VDI platforms.
\n
• Knowledge of enterprise storage technologies including SAN and NAS solutions.
\n
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation practices.
\n
• Exposure to container technologies and modern application delivery platforms.
\n
• Experience supporting highly secure enterprise or government environments.
