The site is located on Bushy Park Road in Goose Creek, South Carolina. CRP provides industrial services, such as steam water compressed air, rail services, security, and emergency response to the nine tenant companies on site. Job Overview Works independently and as a team to support and enforce company policies and procedures related to health, environmental, and safety (HES), security, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance throughout the Bushy Park (BP) industrial site. Responsible for responding to and investigating all safety‑related incidents; conducting routine and specialized inspections; and directing, managing, and coordinating emergency response and safety‑related activities. Collaborates closely with site personnel, contractors, technical and professional staff, department supervisors, and leadership to promote a strong culture of safety, risk prevention, operational readiness, and compliance. Reports To: Fire Chief/Safety Manager Job Type: Full‑time Exempt Schedule Work hours will be rotating 12‑hour shifts of 6:00am to 6:00pm or 6:00pm to 6:00am, with 36 hours in week one and 48 hours in week two. Rotating shifts include nights, weekends, and holidays. On occasion, may work outside these hours for training, to support business needs, accommodate time‑sensitive deadlines, and attend business meetings. Responsibilities and Duties Ensures compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), regulations, and safety procedures, including ISO standards, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), South Carolina Department of Public Health (SCDPH), and South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES). Enforces company policies and procedures in HES, security, and emergency preparedness, helping to foster a culture of safety and risk prevention across the BP industrial site. Responds to and investigates all HES and security concerns or incidents. Operates appropriate emergency response equipment based on incident needs, including an ambulance, fire trucks, a hazmat truck, a technical rescue van, an equipment truck, and a command vehicle. Maintains all emergency response equipment to ensure operational readiness. Provides appropriate medical treatment for all injuries or illnesses across the BP industrial site when holding a current National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Certification; otherwise, coordinates and facilitates medical treatment until NREMT Certification is obtained. Responds to dispatched medical emergencies on the BP industrial site by transporting individuals off‑site to the nearest appropriate medical facility when staffed appropriately. Identifies and monitors potential risks and hazards, and works with CRP teams, tenants, and contractor personnel, to eliminate or mitigate these risks. Manages and advises environmental service providers on environmental activities and issues. Supports emergency preparedness by planning, conducting, and documenting all safety training and exercises on emergency procedures with shift emergency response teams and other personnel across the BP industrial site. Assists management in reviewing safety incidents, corrective actions, and good finds documented in the company’s health, environmental, and safety management tool. Acts as the Incident Commander and coordinates emergency response operations. Visits operating areas across the BP industrial site at least once per shift to communicate and provide HES oversight, reporting results to area management. Conducts routine compliance and safety audits, including root cause analyses (RCA) and job safety analyses (JSAs), and regular and specialized inspections of CRP operations, such as confined space, lockout/tagout, respiratory protection, hazard communications, emergency plans, environmental permits, etc., to ensure compliance with regulations and SOPs. Maintains knowledge, training, and required national and state certifications to remain compliant and effectively complete job duties. Performs other duties as assigned. Specific Skills Strong leadership skills in guiding a team. Ability to reference and implement the principles and practices of occupational safety and health, including safety and environmental protection programs. Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations, including OSHA standards related to hazardous materials, PPE, material handling, and confined spaces. Excellent organizational, time management, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work independently with little to no direct supervision. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize work in a fast‑paced environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel. Required Associate degree with 2 years of leadership, management, and relevant work experience; or, High School Diploma or equivalent, with 5 years of leadership and management, and relevant work experience. Preferred Bachelor of Science degree with 1 year of leadership, management, and relevant work experience with 2 years of OSHA safety program management or compliance, emergency response, and incident command, chemical manufacturing, or regulatory compliance experience. Certifications & Licenses Valid driver’s license Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification, or the ability to obtain upon the first availability of the course training. Incident Command System Certification, or the ability to obtain upon the first availability of the course training. HazMat Chemical Emergency Response Technician Level Certification (40‑Hour HAZWOPER) or equivalent, or the ability to obtain upon the first availability of the course training. Industrial Rope & Confined Space Technician Certification or equivalent, or the ability to obtain upon the first availability of the course training. Advanced Exterior and Interior Industrial Fire Brigade Certification or equivalent, or the ability to obtain upon the first availability of the course training. Physical Requirements Possess close visual acuity to inspect small defects and analyze data; visual acuity to operate machines, such as drill presses, power saws, etc., operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment, and make general observations of facilities or structures; ability to stand, walk, talk, hear; and, exert up to 50lbs of force occasionally and 20lbs frequently. Working Conditions Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions such as temperature levels below 32 degrees and above 100 degrees for more than one hour; noise levels where one may need to shout to be heard; vibrations; hazards such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working in high places; exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, oils, and other cutting fluids; requires wearing a respirator; work in close quarters and narrow passageways; and exposure to infection diseases.
