Diesel Technician

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our team specializing in engine repairs for our Distribution Business in Houston, TX.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Complete troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds on engine products and other customer equipment in a service shop.
• Perform preventative maintenance based on assessment of engines, including utilizing computers/software in the process of diagnostic work.
• Apply documented procedures and policies to complete complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools.
• Completing required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
• Ongoing training and additional certifications on new and existing Cummins products.

Adhere to all our relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

Applies documented procedures and policies to complete basic repairs and schedule maintenance, including preparing required parts and tools Disassemble, inspect and clean engines and /or engine components Assists with completion required documentation, such as work completed documentation, time sheets, warranty claims and quality forms, via handwritten forms or business system input screens Completes training in line with skill and business requirements Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation Ensure adherence to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor

Mechanical Knowledge - Demonstrates knowledge of Cummins and industry standards by complying with all safe work procedures including Personal Protective Equipment to create a safe work environment; applies mechanical principles and theories using appropriate tools and procedures to diagnose and repair products safely and efficiently.Product Repair and Maintenance - Repairs and maintains mechanical/electrical products following guidelines, using required tools within standard repair time to ensure a quality repair; disassembles and assembles engines or power generators following guidelines, using required tools to ensure a clean and organized environment; inspects and replaces parts and components following re-use guidelines to minimize customers cost of ownership; performs progressive damage check following guidelines to restore to pre-failure condition.Service Documentation - Creates and verifies customer, equipment and technical information; captures specific data using required service tools; follows procedures and documents required information in the service management system in order to have an accurate record of the work done. Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position

Core Responsibilities / Activities

• Perform preventative maintenance, basic diagnostics, and repairs on Cummins engine products while following standard repair procedures and safety requirements.
• Assist senior technicians with engine disassembly, inspections, troubleshooting, and component replacement to support timely and accurate repairs.
• Maintain accurate repair documentation in business systems including labor entries, quality forms, inspection findings, and warranty-related information.

Skill, Education, or Experience Requirements

• Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely use hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and service tooling in a workshop environment.
• Understanding of diesel engine fundamentals, preventative maintenance procedures, and basic troubleshooting practices.
• Ability to follow technical service procedures, safety standards, and repair documentation requirements with attention to detail.
• Vocational or technical education in diesel, automotive, or industrial technology, or equivalent hands-on mechanical experience.

Preferred Skills, Education, or Experience

• Previous exposure to Cummins engines, INSITE, GUIDANZ, or other electronic diagnostic service tools.
• Apprentice-trained technician certification or prior experience in a diesel or heavy equipment repair environment.

DOT - A current valid license is required for this role- Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience- This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations

- This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.
