X-Ray Runner / Medical Records Clerk

Under general supervision, the X-Ray Runner / Medical Records Clerk supports the Radiology and Medical Records departments in a high-volume outpatient orthopedic clinic. This position assists patients between clinical areas, supports X-Ray Techs, and manages electronic medical records and related administrative tasks. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and strict adherence to HIPAA privacy guidelines. California Pacific Orthopedics is a highly computerized medical office dedicated to exceptional patient care and customer service.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Radiology / X-Ray Support
• Assist X-Ray Techs by escorting and assisting patients from exam rooms to the radiology department
• Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, staff, and physicians
• Adhere to clinic policies, procedures, and safety standards at all times
• Support providers and staff with radiology-related workflows as needed
• Medical Records & Administrative Support
• Scan and index loose documents into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in appropriate folders
• Sort and distribute incoming electronic faxes and correspondence
• Prepare, process, and send medical records and radiology images per requests, subpoenas, or authorizations
• Send tasks for document review, editing, or physician follow-up
• Assist with correspondence lists by faxing, mailing, or electronically routing documents
• Answer and return phone calls related to medical records requests
• Support general office duties including sorting mail, distributing supplies, and maintaining paper inventory
• Complete special projects as assigned by management or physicians

Qualifications & Education:

• High school diploma or GED required
• 1–2 years of experience in a medical records, clinical, or healthcare office setting preferred
• Proficient with computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and EHR systems (Epic preferred)
• Basic keyboarding and 10-key skills

Preferred (Not Required):

• Experience with Citrix, Allscripts, TouchChart, Epic, Merge
• Knowledge of DICOM imaging format
• Familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office applications

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Manual dexterity for typing, scanning, and handling office equipment
• Ability to communicate effectively using spoken and written word

San Francisco, CA Onsite Full Time $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
