GENERAL ENGINEER

Summary You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER in the AIR PLATFORM SYSTEMS ENGINEERING DIVISION, SYSTEMS ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV. You will serve as the lead systems engineer overseeing the full life cycle technical aspects of the PMA-202 Aircrew Combat Effectiveness (ACE) four development projects, including a technical maturation effort, and sustaining over 60 in-service systems. Responsibilities You will serve as a leader in the system simulation, requirement, and performance specification assessment of technical risk, and analysis of test and evaluation results. You will be responsible for the technical leadership of and effective communications within cross-discipline teams to achieve the successful completion of all technical tasks to develop and deliver assigned products. You will be responsible for Platform PMA coordination to enable the aircraft integration of personnel electro-optical equipment. You will responsible for the readiness and sustainment of currently fielded ACE systems, and you will collaborate with other DOD Services to leverage similar efforts for ACE products. You will effectively lead teams in developing the technical portions of an RFP, conducting source selection, and writing technical roll-up reports supporting the selection decision. You will be responsible for oversight, tracking and mitigation effort, when funded, of Safety Hazards for systems within the ACE IPT. You will be responsible for the successful transition of S and T projects, identifying the remaining engineering tasks to provide an effective and sustainable capability. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12/13) grade level or (DP-04) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Serving as a Lead Systems Engineer or as a Lead Technical Domain Subject Matter Expert for assigned systems, providing authoritative systems engineering or senior-level engineering technical domain input and advice to systems engineering and to the program management leadership; 2) Leading the development and incorporation of Systems Engineering work products or technical domain work products required to satisfy, complement and inform the DoW System Acquisition program management process milestones, artifacts, strategic planning, risk characterization and decision making on major weapon systems; 3) Leading or significantly mastering the incorporation and use of the various and broad NAWCAD resources to support engineering development, planning and testing for assigned systems; 4) Leading engineering, technical, acquisition, and sustainment support personnel and teams. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
