Respiratory Therapist

This is a 13-week contract position.

Day shift, 3x12.0 hours.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory therapy and facilitating patient transport as medically prescribed, all within the scope of professional licensure and with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and educating patients upon discharge.

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen, aerosol, and nebulizer devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance and suction patients via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography as per policy.
• Review patient chest x-rays for further evaluation as necessary.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist in respiratory-related procedures.
• Perform tracheostomy care, including insertion and removal of tubes.
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency.
• Document all treatments and patient responses accurately on respiratory care records.
• Communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charges and electronic records.

Candidates must be licensed Respiratory Therapists and should have relevant clinical experience in a hospital setting. Certification in BLS and ACLS is required.
