Maintenance Technician IIThe Maintenance Technician II role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and improving a wide range of production and facility equipment with minimal supervision. You will perform advanced mechanical maintenance, lead both routine and emergency repairs, and support continuous operations by enhancing equipment reliability and executing intermediate-level preventive maintenance. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, solid troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work safely and independently in a production environment.ResponsibilitiesPerform advanced maintenance and repairs on production equipment, including presses, chop saws, up-cut saws, mechanical punches and dies, CNC machines, drilling machines, punch machines, die cutting equipment, and related tooling.Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues that impact safety, product quality, or equipment performance, using manuals, schematics, and logical diagnostic methods.Build and modify basic fixtures, jigs, and tooling to support production needs and improve equipment performance.Lead scheduled and unscheduled equipment repairs, including emergency breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime and timely completion of work.Perform preventive maintenance (PM) tasks with minimal supervision, identify root causes of repeat failures, and recommend improvements to PM schedules and documentation.Support facility and equipment changes such as department moves, machine installation preparation, and layout modifications on the production floor.Assist with minor electrical work, including PLC-related troubleshooting, 3-phase systems, and control circuits, as training and experience allow.Assist with basic pneumatic and hydraulic system maintenance, including inspection, repair, and component replacement as needed.Complete detailed repair logs, preventive maintenance records, and work orders accurately and on time, ensuring clear documentation of work performed and parts used.Help maintain spare parts inventory by tracking usage, identifying part needs, and communicating replenishment requirements to the appropriate personnel.Perform or assist in lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures once trained, ensuring all work complies with safety standards and company policies.Identify unsafe equipment conditions, take immediate corrective action when possible, and escalate issues that require additional support or approval.Operate tools and equipment safely, follow established safety procedures, and contribute to a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.Participate in onsite interviews or discussions with the leadership team as needed to review technical experience and maintenance practices.Essential SkillsMinimum 5 years of mechanical experience in automotive, machining, or manufacturing environments.Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently using manuals, schematics, and logical diagnostic methods.Hands-on experience with maintenance and repair of production equipment such as presses, chop saws, up-cut saws, mechanical punches and dies, CNC machines, drilling machines, punch machines, and die cutting equipment.Proficiency in preventive maintenance, including planning, performing, and documenting PM activities.Ability to fabricate or modify fixtures and small components to support equipment and production needs.Competence with precision measuring tools and alignment procedures for machinery and components.Basic understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics, including system components and common failure modes.Experience with electrical systems in an industrial setting, including basic schematic reading, PLC troubleshooting, PLC controls, and 3-phase power.Industrial maintenance background with exposure to installation, service, and repair of production equipment.Ability to complete detailed repair logs, work orders, and maintenance records accurately.Strong communication skills and a high level of reliability and accountability.High school diploma or GED.Ability to work safely around machinery, perform moderate to heavy lifting, and operate tools and equipment safely.Additional Skills & QualificationsForklift certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.Experience with welding for repair or fabrication tasks is beneficial.Familiarity with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safety practices in an industrial environment.Comfort working with industrial controls, including PLC-based systems and schematic interpretation.Experience supporting machine installations, department moves, and production layout changes.Ability to participate in an onsite interview with the leadership team to discuss prior maintenance experience and technical skills.Why Work Here?You will join a growing organization in a dynamic industry that has recently experienced significant expansion, offering strong long-term stability and opportunities for advancement. The role involves moderate to heavy lifting, frequent movement around the facility, and hands-on interaction with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. You can expect a fast-paced setting focused on uptime and equipment reliability, with regular use of precision measuring tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albuquerque, NM.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.
