Overview Strengthening Community-Based Family Support Capacity As a VISTA, you will strengthen Safe Families’ volunteer-driven model by expanding our network of volunteers and community partners across the Treasure Coast. You will lead efforts to increase the number of individuals and churches engaged in our mission by developing outreach strategies, promoting volunteer opportunities, and building relationships that support long-term engagement. Your work will help families access support more quickly, reduce crisis escalation, and improve overall program capacity. You will improve efficiency and consistency in volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and communication by designing systems, creating tools, and enhancing data processes. You will work closely with leadership to plan, pilot, and train staff in improved volunteer engagement practices, ensuring sustainability beyond your service year. You will also support the development of volunteer training and retention efforts through program design, resource creation, and continuous quality improvement. This includes building training materials, strengthening communication rhythms, developing recognition practices, and establishing feedback loops that help volunteers feel equipped and connected. Additionally, you will assist with planning and participating in community events, church presentations, and outreach activities where you represent Safe Families and promote volunteer involvement. Your work will expand our capacity, strengthen community support systems, and help more families remain safely together. Member Duties The AmeriCorps VISTA member will strengthen Safe Families’ capacity by expanding and supporting our volunteer network across the Treasure Coast. They will develop recruitment strategies, build partnerships with churches and community groups, and create systems that improve volunteer onboarding, training, and retention. The member will design tools, resources, and communication processes that help volunteers stay engaged and equipped. They will also enhance data tracking and reporting to improve program efficiency and long-term sustainability. Additionally, the VISTA will support outreach events and community presentations that promote Safe Families and increase volunteer involvement. Their work will build lasting infrastructure that allows more families in crisis to receive timely support and remain safely together.
