Position SummaryThe Welding Technican is responsible for operating appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in unloading trucks as neededPractice good housekeeping of work areaAble to attend on-call schedule for weekend/after-hours calloutsWithstand extreme temperaturesRead SAE and Metric measurementsWilling to learn parts diagrams and Blueprints.Able to learn Forklift and Telehandler operationsDetermine the appropriate welding equipment for a method based on requirementsOperate angle grinders to prepare the part that must be weldedAlign components using calipers, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces.Identify opportunities to increase parts sales and improve margins.Education & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required; technical or business training preferred.2–4 years of experience in parts sales, inventory management, service operations, or a related field.Experience in equipment, industrial distribution, or service shop environments preferred.Knowledge & SkillsSelf-MotivatedorganizationGood Multi-tasking abilityReasoning skillsAble to stand the entire shiftAble to work in cold/hot outdoor environmentSafety-ConsciousBasic math SkillsStrong Communication skillsAble to operate warehouse forkliftAble to lift 50 lbsDesign projectAble to use an oxy-acetylene torch proficientlyMeasuring and Cutting materials to specificationsWeld components in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)Proven experience as a welderWork EnvironmentWork is performed in a parts warehouse, shop, or service facility environment.May occasionally lift parts and materials up to 50 pounds.Exposure to shop equipment, noise, and warehouse conditions may occur.EEO Statement: Owen Companies are Equal Opportunity Employers.
