Position: Burner/Torch Cutter Pay: $18.00-$23.50 per hour Location: Axis, AL Schedule: 2-2-3 rotating swing shift Key Responsibilities Cutting & Burning : Operate oxy-acetylene torches and plasma cutters to precisely cut and shape steel products as required. Inspection & Preparation : Inspect raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and are ready for further processing. Lancing : Use high-pressure air lances to clean slag, scale, and debris from steel surfaces, ensuring they are free from imperfections. Safety : Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety guidelines in a high-risk environment. Maintenance & Equipment Care : Maintain and troubleshoot cutting and lancing tools and equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety. Collaboration : Work closely with team members, supervisors, and other departments to meet production goals and ensure smooth operations. Record Keeping : Maintain accurate records of materials used, equipment maintenance, and work completed. Job Requirements Experience : Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Burner, Lancer, or in a similar role within a manufacturing or steel mill environment. Proficient in operating oxy-acetylene torches, plasma cutters, and high-pressure air lances. Strong understanding of metal types, steel alloys, and cutting techniques. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders. Familiarity with safety procedures and equipment in a steel mill setting. Must be able to successfully complete all pre-employment screenings. Physical Requirements : Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in extreme temperatures and noisy environments.
