DESCRIPTION

The Optical Sales Technician (eyewear) is responsible for driving exceptional patient experiences by providing expert guidance in the selection, fitting, fabrication, and dispensing of prescription eyewear. This role partners closely with optometrists and the clinical team to ensure patients receive high-quality vision solutions that meet their medical, functional, and lifestyle needs. The Optical Technician combines technical expertise, product knowledge, and outstanding customer service to promote patient satisfaction, maintain operational excellence, and uphold the highest standards of quality and accuracy throughout the eyewear dispensing process while ensuring operational efficiency, profitability, and compliance with industry standards.

Essential Functions

1. Educate patients on eyewear products, lens technologies, and treatment options based on their visual needs, lifestyle, prescription, and budget.

2. Assist patients in selecting frames that provide an optimal balance of comfort, fit, functionality, and aesthetics while ensuring compatibility with their prescription.

3. Perform accurate measurements for eyewear fabrication, including pupillary distance (PD), segment heights, and other necessary optical measurements.

4. Adjust, repair, and troubleshoot eyewear to ensure proper fit, comfort, and optimal visual performance.

5. Edge and mount prescription lenses into frames while maintaining quality standards and accuracy.

6. Collaborate closely with optometrists and the clinical team to support comprehensive patient care and ensure continuity of service.

7. Verify the accuracy and quality of completed eyewear prior to patient dispensing.

8. Maintain knowledge of current lens technologies, frame styles, coatings, and optical products to provide informed recommendations.

9. Deliver exceptional customer service by creating a welcoming experience and addressing patient questions and concerns with professionalism.

10. Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked optical dispensary while adhering to company policies and industry standards.

11. Other duties as assigned.
