CT Technologist

Responsible for patient safety and the performance of high quality CT studies. Responsible for ensuring effective communication with customers, including radiologists as necessary. In some instances, trains new technologists. This role requires a commitment to patient-centered, compassionate carecreating a positive experience by maintaining clear communication, ensuring comfort, and upholding the highest safety standards throughout the imaging process.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Ensure patient safety by performing thorough pre-screening for contraindications to radiation and contrast. Assess patient condition throughout the exam, provide clear instructions, and respond promptly to adverse reactions or clinical concerns.
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images by following established protocols and radiation-safety guidelines. Apply ALARA/Image Gently principles, monitor dose alerts, document dose indices accurately, and ensure compliance with state, federal, and accrediting-body standards (ACR/Joint Commission).
• Demonstrate full competency in contrast administration, including starting and discontinuing peripheral IVs using aseptic technique, and follow all contrast-safety procedures. Maintain active completion of required education, in-services, and company site-specific competencies.
• Communicate effectively with patients, radiologists, and peers using professional, clear, and timely communication across all channels. Address concerns and workflow barriers proactively while maintaining strict HIPAA confidentiality.
• Use EMR, PACS, and DICOM systems proficiently to ensure timely image transmission and uninterrupted radiologist interpretation. Anticipate and resolve workflow issues that could impact turnaround time.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment; follow infection-control practices; and report equipment issues promptly to ensure safe, reliable operations. Administer contrast materials / exam medication preparation when appropriate and within scope. Monitor contrast, disposables, and exam supplies.
• Train and orient new CT technologists and CT Technologist Assistants, both on-site and through remote command-center support as needed.
• Handle additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by leadership.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
• Registered Computed Tomography Technologists (ARRT)(CT) If allowable by state where service is provided certification by the NMTCB in Computed Tomography acceptable in lieu of ARRT registry
• State Licensure Licensed in Medical Imaging, if applicable
• CPR Certification/BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
• State license, if applicable required.
• CPR certification required - BLS CPR Certification through the American Heart Association Kaiser only
• ACLS certification, when required by site or state guidelines
• Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology as it relates to CT imaging and pathology recognition
• Effective verbal and written communication skills across multidisciplinary teams
• Effective organizational and multi-tasking abilities
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs
• Solid understanding of radiation-safety principles and dose-optimization practices
• Ability to troubleshoot imaging, PACS, and scanner-related workflow issues
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills during fast-paced or emergent situations
• Skill in venipuncture, and aseptic technique
• Ability to remain focused and patient-centered during high-volume or high-acuity situations
• Proficiency in EMR, PACS, and DICOM workflows

Physical Requirements:

The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions during transport of patients if working on a mobile unit. The employee will be exposed to a strong magnetic field. May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

More than 50% of the time:

• Sit, stand, walk.
• Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs.
• See, speak and hear to be able to communicate with patients.

Less than 50% of the time:

• Stoop, kneel or crawl.
• Climb and balance.
• Carry and lift (ability to move non-ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or to exam).
