Senior Backend Java Developer

An established financial services organization is seeking a Senior Backend Java Developer for a hybrid opportunity in Vienna, Virginia. This role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting scalable backend services and APIs that power modern digital banking experiences.
About the Opportunity:- Shift: Day shift
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: Standard business
- Setting: Hybrid (3 days per week onsite)
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain backend services and APIs
- Build scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native applications
- Participate in architecture and design discussions and contribute to technical solutioning
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features and capabilities
- Troubleshoot performance issues, support production environments, and improve operational readiness
- 10+ years of experience developing enterprise backend applications using Java 17 or higher
- Experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures
- Experience building scalable cloud-native applications in Microsoft Azure
- Hands-on experience with Azure services such as App Services, Azure SQL, Service Bus, API Management, and Application Insights
- Experience with Azure DevOps, including Git repos, branching strategies, pull requests, and CI/CD pipeline development
- Strong understanding of SQL, database design, application integration patterns, scalability, resilience, and observability
- Experience troubleshooting complex distributed systems and optimizing application performance
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including AKS
- Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms
- Experience in banking or financial services
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot
