Designs and implements a treatment plan of care utilizing best practice standards and recommended techniques and modalities, insurance guidelines, and patient's needs. Monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment plans as necessary. Educates patients and their families about treatment plans and expected outcomes. Collaborates with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Documents accurately, completely, and timely using measurable and objective terminology following standards of practice, insurance guidelines and department/hospital policy and procedures. Provides discharge planning assistance and information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and follow-up services. Oversees the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and rehabilitation therapy aides, according to established regulations and practice standards. Practices principles of professional development by maintaining clinical competencies, using best and/or evidence-based practices, and serving as a clinical instructor. Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department. Charges patient accurately and timely according to guidelines of the CPT code format and following insurance guidelines. Maintains productivity standards as defined by the department, through effective time management and clinical efficiency and adjusts work hours to meet the needs of the patients as required. Willingly adjusts and adapts to changes in patient census by altering working hours to assist in other centers/programs as needed. Other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Demonstrated clinical experience evaluating and treating orthopedic conditions of the hand and upper extremity.Proficiency in hand therapy interventions, including therapeutic exercise, functional activities, manual therapy, edema and scar management, and splinting/orthotic fabrication or management, as applicable to the practice setting.Ability to develop and implement individualized plans of care for patients with hand and upper-extremity diagnoses.Experience with neurological rehabilitation, including treatment of patients with neurological diagnoses, is preferred.Strong clinical reasoning, documentation, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.Education:Master's [Required], ORDoctorate [Required]Field of Study:N/AWork Experience:Experience in orthopedic hand therapy is required.Experience in neurological rehabilitation is preferred.Additional Information:Education requirements for this position are determined by the licensing or certification standards set forth by the relevant certifying body.
