Medical Support Specialist

About the Role You will support the operations of BioLife Plasma Services as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse). Your work will be guided by the Center Manager, the Center Physician, and BioLife Medical Affairs. The position requires knowledge of plasma collection regulations and a manufacturing environment and includes support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS) matters. Responsibilities Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE). Evaluate donor reaction(s) in accordance with SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities. Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance. Support employee Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs. Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health or ER. Refer to EHS guidance for employee incidents. Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats in the local community. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements. Current license or certification in the state of assignment (EMT–Paramedic). Current CPR and AED certification. State requirements for basic IV therapy satisfied. Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. At least two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting. Benefits Hourly pay range: $22.80 – $31.35 USD for the U.S. – GA – Douglasville location. Pay may vary based on qualifications, experience, and skills. Additional compensation may include short‑term incentives.
