We are seeking an experienced Director of Information Technology to lead the company’s IT strategy, infrastructure, operations, and cybersecurity across its corporate and laboratory environments. This leader builds and executes the company’s IT roadmap, owns the IT budget, and leads the IT team as the company scales, and serves as a strategic partner to research, clinical, quality, and business functions. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in the biotech and life sciences industry and a proven track record of building and maintaining compliant, validated systems in regulated (GxP) environments. This position is based full-time onsite at our Redmond, WA office and will then move to our new Bothell, WA facility in fall 2026 and will lead the IT design, build-out, and transition for the site. Responsibilities Build and execute the company’s IT strategy and multi-year roadmap in partnership with senior leadership, aligning technology investments with business objectives, scientific priorities, and growth plans. Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team, establishing staffing plans and professional development to support a rapidly scaling biopharmaceutical company. Direct all IT operations and infrastructure—including servers, networks, storage, cloud, virtualization, end-user computing, and audiovisual systems—ensuring reliability, scalability, performance, and security across corporate and laboratory environments. Establish and maintain IT governance, policies, and controls that ensure compliance with GxP (GMP, GLP, GCP), 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA, SOC 2, and other applicable regulatory and data-integrity requirements. Lead computer system validation (CSV) and qualification activities for GxP-relevant systems, partnering with Quality Assurance and Regulatory functions to support audits, inspections, and remediation. Own IT program and project delivery for major initiatives, including the design, build-out, and transition of IT and lab infrastructure for the new Bothell, WA facility, ensuring minimal downtime and a seamless move. Oversee cybersecurity strategy, risk management, incident response, business continuity, backup, and disaster recovery to protect corporate and scientific data and intellectual property. Partner with research, clinical, manufacturing, quality, and business stakeholders to ensure the stable operation and continuous improvement of scientific and enterprise applications (e.g., LIMS, ELN, instrument data systems, ERP). Manage the IT budget, vendors, contracts, and service providers, driving cost-effective solutions, service-level accountability, and sound build-versus-buy decisions. Serve as the senior escalation point for critical IT issues and act as a hands-on leader who stays engaged with technical execution when needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree (MS or MBA) preferred. 10–12+ years of progressive IT experience, including 3–5+ years in an IT management or leadership role. Demonstrated experience leading IT within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry, including support of laboratory and scientific environments. Strong, demonstrated experience with regulatory compliance in GxP environments (GMP, GLP, GCP), including 21 CFR Part 11, computer system validation (CSV), and data integrity; working knowledge of HIPAA and SOC 2. Proven experience building, leading, and developing IT teams within a high-growth or scaling organization. Deep technical foundation across IT infrastructure, including Windows and Linux systems, virtualization, networking and firewalls, cloud services, storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions. Experience leading complex IT initiatives such as facility build-outs, office/lab relocations, infrastructure upgrades, and enterprise system implementations. Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices, risk management, and IT governance frameworks. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to partner effectively with scientific, quality, and executive teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with laboratory and scientific systems (e.g., LIMS, ELN, chromatography and instrument data systems such as Waters platforms). Experience supporting GxP-regulated manufacturing, clinical, or quality operations and participating in regulatory inspections or audits. Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, ITIL, or PMP. Compensation and Benefits: The expected base salary range for this position is $180,000 - $250,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s level qualifications, experience, and skills. While most offers typically fall within the low to mid-point of the range, we may extend an offer toward the higher end for exceptional candidates whose background and expertise exceeds the requirements of the role.
