If you do not mind hard work desire job securities associated with essential infrastructure projects and want to make a difference in our communities then, please consider joining the Fort Myer Family.Summary: The Quality Control (QC) Field Technician is responsible for daily sampling and testing of materials in the lab and/or the field and ensuring finished goods meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements.Duties and Responsibilities:Follow quality control plans or guidelines as assigned.Procure samples of asphalt for DOT complianceComplete daily paperwork and test logsConduct field production and testing of asphaltPerform daily quality control testing and analysis of asphalt samplesResponsible for safely operating, maintaining, and caring for assigned testing equipmentPerform additional duties as assignedMay be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.Job Requirements:High school diploma or GED equivalent requiredMARTCP Asphalt Field Technician Certification OR VDOT Field Level II CertificationU.S. DOT Radiation HAZMAT Certification1-3 years of laboratory experience (industry experience preferred)Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving recordMust be 18 years or olderExperience with various hot mix asphalt and aggregate lab equipment, such as gyratory compactors, sieves and ignition furnaceWell-established organizational skills with strong attention to detailExperience using thin lift nuclear asphalt density gauge and coring rigSolid math and reading skills, with the ability to understand technical manualsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficient with Microsoft Word/ExcelWorking Conditions:May require standing for extended periodsProlonged exposure to the elementsAbility to kneel, bend, and lift heavy materialsLaboratory setting with exposure to chemicals and laboratory equipmentMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a timeThis job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (glasses, contacts)Climbing stairs daily to get to workstationMust be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.*Note: This position is considered Safety-Sensitive, and therefore subject to various schedule and unscheduled screenings for controlled substances.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and fully subscribe to the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity.
