This role is required to support a major HR technology transformation for an established AmLaw 100 U.S. law firm with a highly collaborative team. This is a full-time, hybrid, exempt position based in Baker Botts’ Austin, Dallas, Houston, New York, or Washington, DC offices. This newly created role will work closely with key stakeholders and cross-functional teams across Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, IT, and business operations.The Workday Solutions Architect will initially play a key role in the Firm’s transition to Workday, supporting Workday HCM implementation activities, data migration and validation, integrations, configuration, testing, reporting, dashboards, and business process optimization before taking broader ownership across the firm’s Human Resource and payroll systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a systems professional who combines strong Workday HCM implementation and integration experience with HRIS data analysis, reporting, technical problem-solving, and process optimization skills.WHAT YOU'LL DOPrimary ResponsibilitiesServe as a key leader in the firm's enterprise HR technology transformation, guiding the successful migration from UKG to Workday and driving all phases of implementation, including strategy, requirements definition, process design, configuration, data conversion, testing, deployment, change management, and post-production stabilization, and post-go-live support.Partner with senior HR, Payroll, IT, Finance, operational leaders, and external implementation partners to establish project priorities, align Workday capabilities with business objectives, and ensure successful delivery of critical implementation milestones.Lead the assessment and redesign of existing UKG business processes, configurations, reporting, and integrations, developing a future-state Workday operating model that improves efficiency, scalability, compliance, and user experience.Facilitate cross-functional requirements workshops and strategic discovery sessions, translating complex business needs into scalable Workday solutions while guiding stakeholders toward best practices and organizational standardization.Provide leadership for data conversion and migration activities from UKG to Workday, including data mapping, transformation, cleansing, validation, reconciliation, testing, and issue resolution to ensure data issue resolution to ensure the integrity and accuracy of workforce and payroll data.Lead development and execution of comprehensive testing strategies for the UKG-to-Workday transition, including unit testing, system/integration testing, user acceptance testing, parallel testing, regression testing, and production validation.Identify and resolve discrepancies between UKG and Workday data, processes, workflows, and functionality, escalating issues as appropriate and coordinating with internal teams and Workday consultants to implement solutions.Support the design, development, testing, and deployment of integrations between Workday and internal applications, payroll, benefits providers, financial systems, identity-management platforms, and other third-party systems.Build, develop, maintain, and enhance Workday reports, dashboards, calculated fields, worksheets, and analytics required to replace or improve existing UKG reporting and provide accurate workforce information to HR, Payroll, Finance, leadership, and other stakeholders.Evaluate existing UKG reporting and processes and identify opportunities to leverage Workday functionality, automation, and reporting capabilities to improve efficiency, data quality, and the overall employee and administrator experience.Support data security and role-based access within Workday, ensuring appropriate controls are established and maintained in accordance with privacy, governance, confidentiality, and firm requirements.Develop and maintain detailed documentation for Workday configurations, business processes, data conversion, integrations, testing results, reporting, security, procedures, and ongoing system support.Serve as a trusted advisor and Workday subject matter expert during post-go-live operations, providing leadership in issue management, stabilization activities, enhancement planning, vendor coordination, and user support.Deliver strategic workforce analytics and ad hoc reporting to HR, Payroll, Finance, and executive leadership, enabling informed business decisions through accurate and actionable data.Identify opportunities to optimize Workday following implementation, including improvements to business processes, workflows, reporting, integrations, automation, data quality, and system functionality.Act as a change champion throughout the transformation journey, supporting organizational readiness, stakeholder engagement, user adoption, and long-term success as Workday becomes the firm's primary HR technology platform.Contribute to future Workday module implementations, integrations, automation initiatives, reporting enhancements, and HR technology projects as the firm's Workday environment continues to evolve.WHAT YOU'LL BRINGQualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.4–6 years of relevant experience across HR systems, HRIS implementations, business systems, data analytics, or a related technology-focused role.Proven experience leading Workday implementations, preferably within a law firm or similarly complex large corporate environment, with responsibility for driving implementation strategy, design, execution, and delivery is required.Strong experience providing technical and functional leadership throughout Workday implementations, migrations, upgrades, and system transitions is required.Comprehensive knowledge of the Workday platform, including hands-on experience supporting and configuring all Workday modules (Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Absence Management, Talent Management, Recruiting, Learning, Time Tracking, and Payroll Knowledge).Demonstrated ability to lead data and reporting initiatives, including the development and enhancement of Workday reports, dashboards, data pipelines, integrations, and data storage solutions; advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.Experience in creating and enhancing reports, dashboards, data pipelines, integrations, and data storage solutions is required.Experience in evaluating and implementing automation and orchestration solutions to improve HR processes, system workflows, data quality, and operational efficiency is required.Strong understanding of data integrity, data governance, security, privacy, and controls, with the ability to establish and enforce standards across HR systems and data.Ability to gather business requirements from HR, payroll, IT, and other stakeholders and translate them into practical, scalable systems and reporting solutions.Proven project leadership skills, with the ability to establish priorities, manage dependencies, identify risks, resolve issues, and drive multiple complex initiatives through successful completion.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, Your work will help establish a more efficient, wellgoverned HR and enterprise systems environment, positioning you as a key contributor to the firm’s ongoing technology evolution.HOW YOU'LL WORKExtent of Contact Extensive daily contact with lawyers, staff and colleagues across all firm offices.Moderate to high degree of contact with HRIS VendorsDaily contact with peers in the Human Resources Department.Physical RequirementsMust be able to lift boxes of files weighing approximately 15 pounds.Must be able to routinely lift and carry file folders weighing up to 5-10 pounds.Must be able to spend long periods of time working at computer workstation.Must be able to lift, squat, kneel and bend.Working Conditions and EnvironmentThis role may be hybrid and will require a minimum of three days per week (or at least 60%) present in the office, and up to two days per week (40%) may be performed remotely.Position is full-time and requires a five-day work week and hours as established by your supervisor. Work may require more than the regularly scheduled hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.Must be available to work additional hours, including weekend hours, when necessary to meet established deadlines or stay current with occasional peaks in workload.
