Cashier Position

The responsibilities of the Cashier include scanning the customer's selections, ensuring that the prices and quantities are accurate, accepting payment, issuing receipts, answering inquiries, and providing helpful information to customers about products, promotions, and item location. Cashiers also respond to complaints with genuine concern, learn about our Producers and Makers, and assist the Customer Service Manager in creating a positive store atmosphere for customers and a positive working environment for Associates while fostering the Niemann Harvest Market culture.

Essential duties and responsibilities include delivering superior guest service and ensuring absolute customer satisfaction, learning and using the three E's: Engagement, Educate, Empowerment, learning and using the GUEST program, greeting customers, using a smile, engaging the customer in casual conversation, showing respect toward customers' purchases, maintaining customer satisfaction by providing solutions to concerns, performing product scanning and processing of customer's orders in an accurate, efficient, and prompt manner, ensuring proper handling of all forms of tender and coupons, packaging customer purchases in an organized fashion, recognizing and differentiating all types of produce, keeping the workstation and surrounding area clean, organized, and well stocked, performing fixed activities as assigned by supervisor, following all store and department policies and procedures, following safety policies and procedures, and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

There is no required education or experience.

Language skills include the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, the ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and associates.

Mathematical skills include basic math concepts (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication).

This position has no required certifications, license, or registrations.

Recommended equipment includes slip-resistant shoes with closed toe and heel, ladder, stepladder, uniform per store policy.

Physical demands include standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, communicating with associates and customers, lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, occasionally sitting, climbing, balancing, overhead lifting, crawling, smelling, lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds, and vision including close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to distinguish colors.

Work environment includes occasionally risk of electrical shock, outdoor weather conditions from exterior doors, and noise level moderate.

Pay range is $15 up to $17/hour (IL Locations Only).
