Job Overview Position: CSPT Certified Pharmacy Compounding Quality Coordinator - 554 (Permanent Full‑time). Location: KONA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL, Kealakekua, HI. Salary: $6001 monthly based on full‑time employment, with short‑age differential $694/month. Job Duties Develop and enforce SOPs for sterile compounding to ensure compliance with regulations. Manage facility’s Chapters 795, 797, 825, 800 compliance plans. Review certification and recertification records, and prepare for pharmacist review. Report problems, deviations, and errors, ensuring documented corrective actions. Ensure competency of all individuals involved in sterile compounding; educate, train, and recertify staff. Maintain records for training, cleaning, hood and room certification. Oversee environmental sampling programs for primary and secondary engineering controls. Enforce written procedures for handling hazardous drugs. Perform multitasking without errors. Adhere to safety and infection control policies, reporting unsafe equipment or practices. Answer telephone calls and triage to appropriate staff. Fulfill special pharmacist requests and emergent patient needs. Work collaboratively with department and other units. Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and employee information. Attend and participate in departmental and hospital meetings. Perform duties of a Pharmacy Technician FP as required; perform special projects. Experience & Knowledge Three (3) years of work experience assisting a licensed pharmacist in a hospital, including prescription reading, aseptic technique, drug dosage calculations, inventory records, and compliance with pharmacy regulations. One (1) year experience working as a compounding pharmacy technician. Qualifications & Certifications Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Valid registration as a registered pharmacy technician issued by the Board of Pharmacy, State of Hawaii. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers within six months of employment. Preferred: Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) issued by the PTCB. Prerequisite Experience for Full Performance Level One (1) year experience as a Pharmacy Compounding Quality Coordinator, ensuring sterile compounding compliance, USP Chapters 797, 800, 825, developing procedures, overseeing environmental controls, maintaining records, and communicating effectively. Substitutions Completion of a pharmacy technician program from an accredited school may substitute for six months of entry‑level experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college or university may substitute for two years of entry‑level experience. Desirable Qualifications Ability to work independently and as a team player. Proficient computer skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Attention to detail. Strong understanding of sterile compounding, Chapter 797 and advanced training in Chapter 800 compliance.
