Child/Adolescent Therapist

Job Summary:

The Child/Adolescent Therapist provides individual and family therapy to children facing emotional, psychological, and behavioral challenges. The role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and using evidence-based therapeutic techniques to help children improve their emotional well-being and develop healthy coping strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct individual therapy sessions for children and adolescents.
  
• Assess the emotional and psychological needs of children/adolescents through interviews, observations, and standardized assessments.
  
• Develop personalized treatment plans based on assessment results.
  
• Use a variety of therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), play therapy, and family therapy, to address issues like anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavioral problems.
  
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure effective treatment and progress monitoring.
  
• Provide support and guidance to parents and caregivers on how to support the child’s/adolescent’s mental health and development.
  
• Maintain confidential records of sessions, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  
• Participate in regular supervision and professional development activities to stay current on best practices and therapeutic methods.
  
• Engage with children/adolescents in a supportive and empathetic manner to build trust and rapport.
  
• Ensure that children/adolescents and families feel heard, understood, and supported throughout the therapy process.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
  
• Valid state licensure (e.g., LCMHC, LCSW, or LMFT,).
  
• Experience working with children/adolescents in a therapeutic or clinical setting.
  
• Strong understanding of child/adolescent development and common mental health issues in children and adolescents.
  
• Ability to develop individualized treatment plans and adjust strategies as needed.
  
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  
• Ability to work collaboratively with families, teachers, and other professionals.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Specialized training in child-focused therapeutic modalities such as play therapy or trauma-informed care.
  
• Experience working with diverse populations and various cultural backgrounds.
  
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Work Environment and Pay:

Child therapists typically work in private practices, schools, or medical centers. They also provide virtual therapy sessions.

Pay up to $55 per hour.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $30.00 - $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 40 per week
