Position Details Title: Music/Recreation Therapist-Piedmont Geriatric Hospital State Role Title: Therapy Assistant/Therapist I Hiring Range: Commensurate with Experience Pay Band: 3 Agency: Dept Behavioral Health/Develop Location: Piedmont Geriatric Hospital Agency Website: Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties Provide patients with quality treatment interventions to facilitate therapeutic change, prepare patients for re-entry into the community, and improve or maintain functioning in psychological, cognitive, behavioral, emotional, social, and/or physical domains. Use principles of assessment and modify treatment approaches based on patients’ responses. Prepare written treatment plans with objectives and interventions. Conduct group and individual interventions. Understand the dynamics and processes of therapeutic relationships and group therapy. Provide therapeutic experiences that help patients utilize and enhance strengths, improve coping skills, and foster hope. Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills. Adhere to professional standards of clinical documentation. Follow professional code of ethics and the hospital’s ethical standards. Interact with others respectfully, acknowledging diversity in culture, gender, sexual orientation, and spiritual/religious practices. Minimum Qualifications Degree in Music/Recreation Therapy from an accredited college or university. Current professional certification/licensure or eligible within 6 months. Experience working in a clinical setting. Experience working with older adults and/or individuals with mental health issues. Additional Considerations Prior experience in a hospital setting.
