Job Details Specialty: Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med/Surg RN) Location: Springfield, Illinois Setting: Acute Care Hospital / Level I Trauma Center Assignment Length: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour day shifts (06:45 - 19:15) Shifts Per Week: 3 Hours Per Week: 36 Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890 - $1,990 Start Date: September 14, 2026 Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend Floating: Floating may be required within scope to meet facility needs Charting System: Cerner preferred Job Requirements Active Illinois RN license in hand at time of submission Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required BLS certification required Experience with PICC line management and starting IVs required Must be comfortable caring for trach and laryngectomy patients and willing to learn Ability to manage a patient load up to 1:7 if needed Experience with Cerner preferred Strong acute care nursing skills, including medication administration, wound care, and post-surgical support Responsibilities Provide high-quality nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a fast-paced medical-surgical setting Perform and support procedures such as dressing changes, drain management, tube care, and blood transfusions Manage PICC lines, start and maintain IVs, and support central line dressing care Care for patients requiring tracheostomy and laryngectomy support Monitor patients using unit equipment such as IV pumps, feeding tube pumps, wound vacs, and continuous pulse oximetry Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to maintain safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care Adapt to unit needs while providing reliable coverage and strong clinical judgment Location Highlights Springfield offers a comfortable blend of city convenience and Midwest hospitality Enjoy a community with restaurants, local history, parks, and easy-to-navigate neighborhoods Ideal for travel nurses looking for a supportive assignment in a well-connected capital city Apply now to join this Springfield, Illinois travel nursing assignment and take the next step in your Med/Surg RN career.
