Utilities Technical Lead

York County Government, Utilities Department is looking for a full-time, exempt Utilities Technical Lead. The purpose of this position is to supervise, develop, create, plan and participate in the installation, preventative maintenance, repair, and upkeep of water booster stations and sewer pumping stations. This includes all pumps, valves, control panels, generators, electrical components, sensors, SCADA, tanks, motors, building, and grounds. Projected Hiring Range/Pay Grade 118: $28.99 - $34.79. Salary is determined based on experience and education.

Work Schedule: Monday Friday, 7:00 am 3:30 pm (40 hours per week). Responds to after-hours/emergency calls 24-hours per day, 7-days per week while on-call rotation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develops, creates, coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes preventative maintenance (PM) work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
• Works with administration and staff to develop and create best practices for pumping assets including daily, weekly, monthly, and annual PM tracking and planning.
• Works with administration to develop PM plan and tracking mechanisms to ensure water and sewer assets are properly maintained throughout the system.
• Supervises crew workers in the performance of their duties including instructing, reviewing, and planning.
• Responds to after-hours/emergency calls 24-hours per day, 7-days per week. Must drive a county vehicle to locations.
• Prepares and submits inspection reports on all sewer lift stations. Maintains daily pump logs on all sewer lift stations. Assigns and reviews work orders.
• Performs and supervises electrical troubleshooting and repair on electrical control panels, AC DC drives and motors, and pumps.
• Designs and fabricates special electrical and mechanical systems as required.
• Works closely with engineers and inspectors on projects, reviewing and communicating on design and construction plans and specifications.
• Maintains records of maintenance and repair. Assists in inventory and purchasing parts, tools, materials, and equipment as needed.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Experience and Education:

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• Four years of experience working with sewer infrastructure, water/wastewater pumping systems, electrical motors and pump control panels, or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint. City Works or other asset management software knowledge a plus.

Certifications and Licenses:

• Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
• Valid CPR & First Aid Certification.

Physical Demands: Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

• Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, dancing, stretching, or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
