Network Engineering Architect, Director

Salary: $81,000 - 121,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Network Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• We need 10+ years of experience in network engineering and architecture, with a proven record of delivering large-scale enterprise network solutions in global or multi-site environments.
• We look for deep knowledge of core networking principles, including routing protocols, switching, segmentation, overlays and underlays, load balancing, DNS/DHCP, firewall policy concepts, and network observability.
• We require hands-on experience with network automation and Infrastructure as Code, including scripting such as Python or Bash and configuration automation.
• We expect demonstrated leadership in architecture governance, design reviews, standards councils, or similar forums, with the ability to align security, operations, and application teams.
• We need a strategic mindset with strong execution skills, including the ability to translate architecture strategy into practical roadmaps and designs while balancing innovation, risk, and compliance.
• We require experience with hybrid and cloud-native networking, including cloud VPC/VNET design, service mesh or similar concepts, and integration with on-premises networks.
• We value exposure to or experience with AI/ML in network operations and design, along with an interest in applying new technology to networking challenges.
• Preferred: an advanced degree such as an M.S. or Ph.D. in a relevant technical field.
• Preferred: experience in financial services or another regulated industry, with knowledge of security, compliance, and audit expectations in mission-critical environments.
• Preferred: experience leading major network transformation initiatives, including software-defined networking, virtualization, or enterprise-scale automation.
• Preferred: industry certifications or active involvement in professional networking, cloud, or security communities.

• We will define and evolve our enterprise network architecture strategy and multi-year roadmap, aligned to business goals, security requirements, and emerging technologies.
• We will establish and uphold network architecture standards, reference patterns, and design principles across core network domains such as data center, campus, WAN, and cloud connectivity.
• We will lead architecture governance and design reviews, chairing forums that evaluate network solutions for scalability, resilience, compliance, and risk control alignment.
• We will drive an Infrastructure as Code and automation-first approach to networking, using declarative configuration, CI/CD pipelines, and version control for network changes.
• We will implement strong change management practices that make network changes safe, auditable, traceable, and routinely validated, with human approval checkpoints where needed.
• We will design identity-based segmentation and policy frameworks to strengthen security and enable more dynamic, intent-based traffic handling.
• We will build self-service networking capabilities by creating templates, APIs, guardrails, and paved-path abstractions for application teams and non-network specialists.
• We will integrate AI-driven tools and workflows into network engineering, including AI-assisted configuration and agent-based automation.
• We will use AI and machine learning to analyze network configurations and telemetry so we can improve performance, capacity, and resilience, while keeping human oversight, transparency, and auditability.
• We will oversee routing, switching, load balancing, DNS, and connectivity architecture to deliver highly available and resilient networks across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• We will improve network observability and incident response by advancing monitoring and telemetry, supporting root-cause analysis, and partnering with SRE/Ops on performance tuning.
• We will mentor and develop senior network engineers and architects, sharing expertise and raising the standard for design quality, documentation, and operational excellence.
