About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 6 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 3 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Proficient with IV starts and blood draws. Strong general medicine/internal medicine experience. Description: This unit has 20 beds. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:5. BLS and ACLS certifications are required. The unit handles a variety of general medicine/internal medicine cases. Patients include those with cellulitis, abdominal pain, transitional rehabilitation needs, surgical overflow, direct admits, and infections. This unit does not provide telemetry monitoring but requires staff to be telemetry competent for floating purposes. RNs are expected to titrate drips such as heparin and lasix. There is a charge nurse on every shift who may take patients as census changes. Nurse aids are present, with typical ratios of 1:15, and 1:10 when at full capacity. Technicians can conduct lab draws and EKGs. Respiratory therapy is shared between floors, primarily involving home CPAPs. Staff operates on a 12-hour schedule from 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend. Holidays are rotated with the core staff. All RNs must float to med-surg/tele acuity floors as needed. The dress code includes navy scrubs. Epic is the charting system used, and experience with it is preferred. Basic EKG knowledge is required. RN staff must be capable of interpreting strips and managing cardiac drips as part of floating requirements. There is no call or standby requirement for this position.
