Unit Notes
Med Sol will prescreen and unit will interview/review for an offer

Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity within the past year. Candidates who were employed PRN through outside firms will be considered.

First to Float between College Station and Bryan campus (16 minutes apart) as needed
Special Information: Call outs are strongly discouraged and could lead to termination
DYS and Pharm exam is not required for the OR RNs

Unit OR
# Suites 8 OR suites with 2 endo rooms
Average # of cases per day anywhere between 5-30 cases per day between OR, endo, and cysto
Required Certifications: BLS
Common Cases general: choles, appys, hernia repairs, GYN: mastectomy, lumpectomy, hysters, (L&D to do c-sections), ortho including total joints, podiatry, ENT- thyroidectomy, parathyroid, BMT (bilateral myringotomy tubes), MSDL (microdirect laryngoscopy), lots of GI- scopes, robotics-DaVinci Xi, occasional minor trauma
Experience or 'Must have' skills "Must have at least 2-3 years of OR exp.
Must have exp with all cases and robotics Xi
Trauma experience is a plus- may get some trauma and would like them to be prepared if on call
Must have previous travel"
Scrubbing required - RN's RNs are not required to scrub
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor Charge nurse- available to help generally not assigned cases
OR techs yes
EMR "Surgical information systems (SIS)
SIS is a point and click system very similar to Cerner. Most that have worked with Cerner or EPIC catch on quickly."
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) Days 6:30a-3p. If on call will stay and finish cases
Weeknight/Call Requirements Mon-Fri 3p-6:30a. Every 2-3 days
Weekend/Call Requirements Friday 3p to 6:30a Monday
Weekend call can either be 3rd weekend or every other (pick days for Saturday Sunday or full weekend) To get the amount of shifts does not have to be the same weekend days) or can do a full weekend (i.e.: 0700 Saturday-0700 Monday)
Holiday/Call Requirements Holidays are call only- travelers will rotate with perm staff
What is call response time? 30 minutes
Floating Requirements Bryan Campus, usually to know the day
Scrub Color/Dress Code scrubs are not provided- need to bring laundered Navy scrubs from home to change in to at hospital
Unit/Department specific orientation Will orient a few days 1 full week with buddy call to go on their own the following week , depending on experience, to get through a majority of the cases- can be up to a week and then expected to be on their own.
