Senior Payroll Analyst - US & Canada Payroll Expert

Overview The Payroll Analyst opportunity allows for a great partnership with employees and teams. The position has significant responsibilities and will lead activities that will be performed as part of the payroll, HR, and accounting lifecycle. Department Finance Location US – Arizona – Tempe – Corp HQ Responsibilities Ensure accurate and timely processing of US and Canadian (CAD) payrolls, including knowledge of benefits and taxes. Review, audit, and process bi‑weekly and semi‑monthly payrolls in accordance with company policies, taxes, benefits and statutory wage and hour laws. Process payroll transactions for 1,800+ employees, including salary changes, benefit deductions, direct deposits, terminations, leave of absence, wage garnishments, stock and equity transactions, manual checks, and hourly timecard calculations. Follow payroll procedures, interpret and evaluate policies, and suggest improvements for responsiveness, efficiency and accuracy. Resolve payroll issues such as compensation discrepancies, benefit deduction variances and special payment exceptions before pay finalization. Onboard employees from Workday to the ADP Workforce Now system and ensure proper access and payroll provisioning. Review timecards for exceptions, collaborating with employees and managers to guarantee accuracy prior to payroll processing. Manage leave of absence (LOA) payroll processing, coordinating with HR/Benefits on irregularities. Prepare, audit, and distribute bi‑weekly and monthly payroll reports to management. Coordinate 401(k) and RRSP fund distribution and reporting with plan administrators. Maintain internal controls for US and CAD payroll. Provide system training to employees on ADP payroll and timecard systems, and create quick‑reference guides. Work closely with HR and Tax departments for workers’ comp, 401(k) and audits. Provide responsive documentation for audits and court‑ordered subpoenas. Stay current with new tax and reporting requirements. Ensure effective fulfillment of objectives and deadlines for the group. Comply with all safety policies and report unsafe activities. Participate in initiative‑taking team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 4+ years processing US multi‑state and multi‑cycle payroll for non‑exempt and exempt employees. 2+ years processing Canadian multi‑provincial payroll for non‑exempt and exempt employees. Experience with ADP Workforce Now (highly desired). Workday/HCM experience preferred. SAP experience preferred. CPP experience preferred. Experience with stock and equity programs preferred.
