Principal Data Engineer (m/w/d)

Job Title

We are looking for you immediately at one of our German locations in Munich, Nuremberg, Essen, Leipzig, Berlin or Frankfurt am Main !

Your Tasks

Data and AI are your home? Furthermore, your new challenge will be as follows:

• Conception and setup of Big Data / Analytics / AI platforms, including DevOps workflows, IaC, CI/CD, IAM and Monitoring & Alerting
• Conception, development and scaling of data pipelines on various cloud architectures with the inclusion of data quality measures as well as the design and implementation of data models
• Operationalization of statistical and AI models as well as results of the Data Scientists, to make them available for productive use or to automate them
• Selection and consultation of customers on the advantages and disadvantages of various technology stacks, suitable for the use cases and the environment in the company
• Taking a leading role in customer communication and management of engineering projects with professional responsibility for a developer team and the project results
• Building up Data Engineering expertise in the company e.g. by holding internal trainings, leading internal projects and active participation in the engineering community

Your Profile

Data is also in your DNA? Here’s what you should bring:

• Successfully completed degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering or a related mathematical/scientific field or a comparable qualification
• Strong communication skills (fluent) in German and English as well as willingness to travel as part of a consulting activity
• At least 6 years of full-time professional experience as a Data Engineer in the conception & implementation of data platforms and data management processes or in a similar field
• At least 5 years of practical experience with common programming languages such as Python, Scala, SQL and developer tools such as GIT
• At least 4 years of implementation experience with Big Data technologies, especially Spark / Kafka, distributed storage systems, OpenTable formats and cluster computing
• At least 4 years of experience with various cloud components (Object Storage, Databases, Message Services, ETL / ELT Engines, Security, Scheduling, Operations, Monitoring, etc.) in the area of AWS / Azure / GCP
• Experience with at least one of the following technologies: Databricks / Snowflake / AWS Sagemaker / Azure Synapse / similar data analytics platforms
• Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK, etc. as well as with common CI/CD processes and tools
• Nice to have: Experience with UNIX systems and network configuration
