Role Description This full-time Private Investigator role is an on-site position based in West Milford, NJ. The Private Investigator will conduct field investigations, including surveillance, interviews, scene inspections, and background research, to gather evidence for a variety of cases. Daily responsibilities include planning and executing surveillance operations, documenting observations with detailed notes, photographs, and video, and preparing clear investigative reports for clients. The investigator will handle claim and fraud-related assignments, verify facts and statements, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure that all work adheres to legal and ethical standards. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including occasional evenings, weekends, and travel within the region, while maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism. Qualifications Strong investigation skills, including general Investigation and Fraud Investigations, with the ability to gather, analyze, and verify information. Experience in Surveillance operations, including conducting mobile and stationary surveillance and accurately documenting activities. Ability to perform Claim Investigation and Investigative Reporting, producing clear, concise, and well-organized written reports. Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws related to private investigations, privacy, and evidence handling. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel for field work. High attention to detail, strong observational skills, and sound judgment in dynamic situations. Proficiency with basic technology tools such as cameras, video equipment, and standard office software. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain strict confidentiality. Prior investigative, law enforcement, insurance, or legal experience is preferred but not required.
