Summary The Registered Nurse plans, coordinates, and provides total nursing care for residents and provides supervision and guidance to clinical staff members. Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing. Licenses/Certification Valid RN license in the state of employment. Valid CPR certification. Experience One year of nursing experience preferred. Job Functions Initiates and leads team conferences in the development of individualized nursing care plans. Assesses and documents resident condition and nursing needs. Accurately and promptly implements physician orders. Assigns nursing care to team members based on resident needs and staff qualifications. Supervises, directs, and evaluates LPNs, LVNs, and CNAs. Administers medications, starts IVs, and performs treatments for assigned residents, and documents as required by company, and local, state, and federal regulations. Participates in orientation and in‑service training for personnel. Assists physicians with special tests and procedures within the scope of the state Nursing Practice Act. Ensures supplies are used economically and equipment is clean and maintained safely. Reports and records pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents. Coordinates nursing care of residents when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments. Interviews applicants and recommends hires. Participates in counseling, disciplinary action, and termination of staff to the extent permitted by state practice act. Supervises nursing unit, including scheduling and directing staff to the extent permitted by state practice act. Performs other tasks as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Skilled in directing and motivating the workforce. Ability to work cooperatively as a team member. Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and at all organization levels. Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
