Base pay range $69,743.00/yr - $81,096.00/yr Direct message the job poster from Green Bay Area Public School District Position Title: Safety and Security Coordinator Reports to: Safety and Security Manager Terms of Employment: 12-month position with salary and benefits determined by the Board of Education; follows the Green Bay Public School District Employee Handbook Position Purpose: Support and coordinate the planning, organizing, managing, and administering the District’s safety and security plan to ensure a safe environment for students, staff, and the public. Provide for compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS), Department of Public Instruction (DPI), and Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). Supports coordination of the District’s safety and security programs [(ALICE and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)]. Supports investigations of job-related safety issues and complies with recommendations from insurance companies and agents regarding reductions in workforce injury rates. Supports and conducts safety inspections of all buildings and investigates accidents and complaints regarding unsafe practices. Provides for safe playgrounds and investigates playground accidents. Reviews all accident reports and initiates appropriate corrective action or adjustments where required. Directs employees in small-scale, short-duration repairs involving asbestos. Supports the District’s designated asbestos officer. Assist with maintaining and updating the district's asbestos training and records. Works with architects and contractors to ensure compliance with life safety codes in all buildings. Supports hazardous waste management and disposal programs and maintains records. Supports hazardous waste disposal and chemical hygiene programs. Supports SDS record keeping and distribution. Ensures compliance with ADA, health, and fire codes. Consults with local building inspectors, state and federal Department of Industry Labor and Human Relations (DILHR), Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS), DSPS, and DPI inspectors. Works with fire inspectors and various agencies to identify and correct safety violations. Coordinates contracts, training, inspections, records, and maintenance for therapy swings, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, kitchen fume hoods, paint booths, fire doors, art kilns, and chemical fume hoods. Support the coordination and implementation of legally mandated training and record keeping, including bloodborne pathogens, mandatory reporting, fire safety, high lift and forklift operation, respirators, CPR, and AED certification. Coordinates random drug and alcohol testing for employees with Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDL). Works with the City Clerk’s office to provide access and security during elections in District buildings. Collaborates with the Transportation Department and City Traffic Engineer to resolve unsafe busing and pedestrian issues. Monitors all District buildings for hazardous materials and substances, such as radon, and maintains records. Makes recommendations and provides for security measures in district buildings. Performs building security inspections. Supports the development and implementation of the district-wide emergency management program in coordination with the city and county emergency management. Supports the employee ID access card program and security software, hardware, and equipment. Supports ongoing review, evaluation, and development of rules, guidelines, procedures, and practices as required by law and consistent with the policies of the Board of Education. Supports development specifications for the purchase of materials, equipment, and services. Provides for a bidding process that conforms to State Statutes and District policy. Supports maintaining the approved budget and makes recommendations for establishing the budget. Responds to after-hours boiler, security, and emergency alarms and calls. Supports the gathering and submission of all required safety-related information to the Department of Justice, Office of School Safety, annually as required by law. Supports grant writing, management, and implementation of safety and security-related technology and equipment. Supports management of the District’s portable radio inventory and programming. Participates in the District’s Health and Safety Committee and School Security Committee. Assist in investigating job-related safety issues and comply with insurance company and agent recommendations regarding reduction in workforce injury rates. Assist in coordinating the annual safety inspections of District therapy swings. Assist with site security assessments for each school site every three years, as required by law. Support the District’s Building Security System, including security cameras. Works with schools when new cameras are requested and when maintenance is needed. Supports the District liaison for the School Resource Officer (SRO) program. Support the management of the District’s portable radio inventory and programming. Support coordination of the District Threat Assessment procedures and work with building leaders to ensure assessments are done correctly. Supports the District Reunification Team and leads reunification processes when needed. Supports implementation and maintenance of Centegix Crisis Alert System and Ready Op Emergency Notification System. Support with any Vector Solutions training assignments and help desk tickets. Delivers expulsion notifications for the Legal Department. Meets regularly with Facilities Department leadership to review operations. Acts as a substitute for managers as required. Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisors. Working Conditions: Work involves disruptions to the daily schedule. Work requires flexibility in adjusting to continuously changing situations. Work entails a flexible daily schedule. Work involves a high level of decision-making and the ability to keep information confidential. Work requires travel in and outside the district. Qualifications Required: Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, OR Experience: Three (3) years of successful experience or specialized training in Safety, Environmental Safety, or Health Management and Compliance, or a closely related field Possesses the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to OSHA, AHERA, DSPS, and ADA. Knowledge of building and safety codes. Management and supervisory skills Qualifications Desired: Wisconsin School Safety Coordinators Association (WSSCA) safety and security coordinator certification; State of Wisconsin asbestos/lead (Pb) certification as an Asbestos Supervisor; Knowledge of current codes and ordinances as they pertain to water and air quality, hazardous waste handling, and disposal, and chemical hygiene management; Knowledge of current safety and security practices, including Lockout/Tagout and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); Knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) life and safety codes; Knowledge of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) chemical safety; Completion of ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) training; Completion of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) required training, including Bloodborne Pathogen training; National Incident Management System (NIMS), ICE-100 (Incident Command System), and IS-700 (National Incident Management System) certification.
