Physical Therapist (Acute Care)

The Physical Therapist provides care to patients through evaluation, treatment planning, treatment implementation, patient education and discharge planning to maximize the patient's functional level.

Baylor University Medical Center's Physical Therapists are members of the Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation, a joint venture between Baylor Scott & White Health and Select Medical. If selected for this role, you would be associated with Baylor Scott & White, meaning you would not be directly employed by Baylor Scott & White but would provide services to Baylor Scott & White's patients while being an employee of Select Medical.

Essential Functions Of The Role:

• Evaluates, treats and monitors patient.
• Modifies therapy program and goals.
• Performs thorough and concise clinical documentation in a timely manner.
• Enters charges accurately.
• Knows about reimbursement related to practice setting.
• Communicates effectively with patients and families, departmental coworkers and members of the medical care team.
• Provides education to patients, family and staff.
• Supervises ancillary staff, students and volunteers.
• Advances clinical skills through ongoing education, literature review and implementation of evidence-based practice.
• Dispenses knowledge to develop the clinical skills of colleagues.
• Adheres to organizational, national, and state regulatory guidelines.
• Maintains awareness of system goals.
• Aligns personal goals and work activities to uphold or impact the system goals.

• Must possess problem solving skills of the type and at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
• Must possess good communication skills and be able to relate professionally and positively to patients, patient's family members and facility staff.
• Exhibits exceptional face-to-face synergy and leadership skills with all levels of the healthcare team and assures delivery of excellent customer service to all patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers.
• Possesses proficient computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems and standard Rehabilitation equipment.
• High attention to detail in fast paced and dynamic environment.
• Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a high level of productivity.

Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of Accredited Physical Therapy Program
• Experience: Acute Care experience preferred
• Certification/License/Registration: Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) or (OT) Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
