Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Site Administrator performs a variety of general cleaning and general housekeeping work at an assigned school; performs specific tasks including heavy cleaning such as stripping waxing and polishing floors; provides assistance in various repairs; assists in relocating classroom/office furniture; assists in maintaining the regular course of work the Custodian may have access to sensitive information. It is expected that all employees of the Susanville School District will not release any sensitive information regarding students parents/guardians or cleaning methods and the preferred procedures for cleaning and preserving floors walls rooms and fixtures; knowledge of: cleaning materials disinfectants safety precautions for cleaning bodily fluid spills and equipment used in custodial work; common tools and their uses; safe work methods. Use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency. Perform manual labor; understand and carry out oral and written directions. Maintain cooperative relationships with coworkers. Use common courtesy in the course of FunctionsSweeps scrubs waxes and polishes concrete linoleum tile and wood floors Vacuums and shampoos carpetsCleans offices faculty rooms classrooms multi-purpose rooms hallways and stairways Cleans and dusts walls furniture woodwork hall lockers and other equipmentWashes scrubs and disinfects restrooms and replenishes sanitary supplies Disinfects desks phones door knobs handles and door barsCleans windows door glass sinks and drinking fountainsCleans waste containers Collects and discards trashAssists in moving or rearranging chairs tables desks furniture and other equipment Replaces light bulbs (floor tiles and window glass in an emergency)

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications Include:Two years of verified professional janitorial or custodial work or one year on district substitute list and/or verified work exceeding 30 days within a school districtHigh School Diploma or equivalentSuccessful completion of the district custodial testValid California Drivers LicenseMust be able to work independently in a night time setting
