Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- AMA is seeking a highly outgoing, organized, and results-driven Admission Coordinator to support nursing home census growth and deliver an exceptional experience for prospective residents, families, and referral partners. This full-time role is ideal for a professional who thrives in relationship-building, understands the admissions process in post-acute or long-term care, and can balance community outreach, financial screening, tours, and conversion follow-up in a fast-paced environment.
- Develop, grow, and maintain referral relationships with hospitals, rehabilitation centers, physicians, case managers, discharge planners, assisted living communities, and other community partners
- Travel regularly to referral sources and partner locations to strengthen business relationships and generate admissions opportunities
- Coordinate and manage the admissions process from initial inquiry through move-in
- Conduct resident and family tours with warmth, professionalism, and strong follow-up
- Review and run financials for referrals, including payer-source evaluation, insurance verification, and identification of appropriate admission opportunities
- Partner with clinical, business office, and leadership teams to assess referral appropriateness and ensure smooth transitions
- Maintain consistent communication with families, residents, hospital teams, and internal departments
- Track referrals, conversions, denials, pending admits, and other census-related metrics
- Support ongoing census improvement strategies and help execute outreach and conversion plans
- Document referral activity, admissions status, and follow-up actions accurately and on time
- Represent AMA professionally at community events, networking opportunities, and referral meetings
- Experience in nursing home admissions, skilled nursing admissions, healthcare marketing, case management, intake, or a closely related healthcare role
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with referral sources
- Ability and willingness to drive to hospitals, physician offices, and other referral partner locations
- Experience running financials for referrals, including:
- Payer review
- Insurance screening
- Benefit verification
- Strong multitasking ability, with the capacity to manage tours, referral follow-up, admissions coordination, and census-building activity simultaneously
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Friendly, energetic, polished, and highly outgoing personality
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with email, spreadsheets, admissions logs, and customer relationship tracking systems
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation center, long-term care setting, or post-acute care environment
- Knowledge of:
- Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care
- Commercial insurance and private-pay admissions
- Bed management, payer mix strategy, and census development
- Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including nursing, therapy, and business office personnel
- Familiarity with local healthcare referral networks and community outreach
