Director of Program Operations, Environmental Health Administration

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's Division of Environmental Health works to prevent and control illness and injury related to environmental and occupational health risks through outreach, education, surveillance, and enforcement. With staff of 1,000, the Division covers a broad range of subject matter, including oversight of environmental investigations, lead poisoning, injury prevention, occupational health, food safety, childcare, radiation control, recreational and drinking water quality, air quality, climate health, vector control, veterinary public health and pest control. The Bureau of Administration requires staff with strong attention to detail to manage program operations in a variety of areas, including financial analysis, performance management, organizational strategy in times of expansion and contraction, and program initiative implementation. Duties will include but not be limited to:

• Oversee performance management for the Division of Environmental Health with a focus on continual improvement, quality assurance, and efficiency. Working in collaboration with the Office of Strategic Operations and Performance Management, Department Leadership, and the Mayor's Office of Operations.
• Coordinate 311 operations, service request response, analytics, and strategy for the Division of Environmental Health.
• Track implementation of new program initiatives.
• Conduct planning for the Division to maintain core services in the event of a broad emergency activation.
• Collaborate with internal partners to innovate and improve, including developing/tracking performance metrics to optimize operations.
• Representing Division of Environmental Health leadership in collaboration with City partners and external stakeholders.

PREFERRED SKILLS: The ideal candidate will have significant experience managing complex operations; excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills; and exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal skills. They will have knowledge of New York City's administrative processes and will be an effective collaborator.
