PositionQuality Improvement Coordinator LocationBeaufort Memorial Hospital Full-Time/Part-TimeFull-Time ShiftDays Exempt/Non-ExemptNon-Exempt DescriptionJOB SUMMARY:Coordinates and supports the implementation and performance of assigned core measures through data collection, reporting, and staff education. Core Measures include but are not limited to Perinatal Care, Inpatient Psychiatric Facility Quality Reporting, and Outpatient Emergency Department measures. Develops, monitors, and updates processes, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient patient flow and compliance with regulatory standards. Serves as a resource to staff and patients, assists with meeting coordination and documentation, and supports regulatory activities, inspections, and disease-specific program initiatives. This role is also responsible for coordinating with Medical Staff Services to plan and execute quarterly interdisciplinary Perinatal Committee meetings.Leads, co-leads, and facilitates interdisciplinary performance improvement initiatives that advance quality, patient safety, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance across the organization. Utilizes structured improvement methodologies, including Lean, Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA), Six Sigma, and other evidence-based process improvement tools to identify opportunities, analyze workflows, reduce variation, and improve outcomes. Collaborates with clinical, operational, and physician leaders to define project goals, develop action plans, measure performance, and sustain compliance.Position RequirementsJOB QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION:Ability to obtain a South Carolina Nursing License preferred.Bachelors required, Masters preferred.EXPERIENCE:At least 3 years’ experience in healthcare. Quality data collection experience preferred.JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:Demonstrates strong clinical knowledge and the ability to provide patient-specific education, along with expertise in core measures and abstraction guidelines.Possesses excellent communication, teaching, and organizational skills to effectively educate providers and staff and serve as a trusted resource.Exhibits high attention to detail, strong computer proficiency, and a solid understanding of Joint Commission standards, including credentialing and privileging requirements.Able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong visual, auditory, and verbal acuity.CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSES:· If applicable, current South Carolina Nursing LicenseWORKING CONDITIONS:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.Sedentary work requiring prolonged periods of sitting.Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.ONGOING COMPETENCIES (JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):Coordinates the collection, abstraction, analysis, and reporting of assigned core measure and quality data in accordance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements.Develops, reviews, and updates policies, procedures, educational materials, and workflows related to quality measures, disease-specific certifications, and regulatory requirements.Provides ongoing education and support to staff regarding quality initiatives and core measure compliance.Serves as a resource for regulatory surveys, accreditation reviews, disease-specific program certifications, and quality audits by preparing required documentation, reports, and supporting evidence.Coordinates meetings, committees, and performance improvement activities.Conducts concurrent and retrospective chart reviews to ensure documentation accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to established clinical standards and abstraction guidelines.Assists with patient education activities and supports interdisciplinary efforts to improve patient outcomes, patient safety, and quality of care.Maintains current knowledge of applicable regulatory standards, quality reporting requirements, Joint Commission standards, CMS measures, and evidence-based practice guidelines.Utilizes electronic health records, quality databases, and reporting systems to track, trend, analyze, and communicate quality performance data.Maintains confidentiality of patient, provider, and organizational information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.Participates in departmental quality improvement projects, performance evaluations, competency assessments, and continuing education activities as required.Other duties as assignedEOE StatementBeaufort Memorial Hospital is an equal employment opportunity employer.
