Job Title : Infrastructure Engineer Project Duration : 12 Months Project Location : Detroit, MI Position Description We are seeking an experienced Server Infrastructure Engineer to join our global IT team. This role requires strong technical expertise in server hardware, out-of-band management, firmware operations, and infrastructure design. The ideal candidate will operate with a high degree of independence, take ownership of complex technical initiatives, provide guidance to peers, and contribute meaningfully to architecture-level discussions and decisions. Key Responsibilities Provide Global L3 hardware support and conduct in-depth root cause forensic analysis for complex server issues Serve as a subject matter resource for out-of-band management, such as HPE iLO, HPE OneView, HPE COM, Dell iDRAC, and Dell OpenManage Enterprise Serve as a SME for different server makes and models, e.g., HPE, Dell, and Lenovo Independently resolve complex, cross-system technical issues with minimal oversight Lead scripting initiatives and develop automated server configurations to streamline operations Design and maintain scripts using the Redfish API to automate server discovery, configuration profiles, BIOS updates, and firmware lifecycles Strong proficiency in automation using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible, with proven experience querying and commanding infrastructure via REST APIs Guide application owners in automating application testing and certification processes Own firmware update methodologies and firmware version management for assigned segments of the global server fleet Identify opportunities to improve automation coverage and firmware management practices across the team Deliver robust server designs and lead FMEA testing efforts Manage server and component testing, including planning, execution, and results analysis Lead hardware-related projects such as trusted SSL certificate deployment across the fleet and MFA initiatives Identify and troubleshoot systemic hardware issues, recommending long‑term solutions Create and maintain comprehensive standards documentation and user documentation for OOB management Establish best practices and contribute to team‑wide technical standards Review and improve existing documentation for accuracy and completeness Design, implement, and maintain enterprise servers and general‑purpose hybrid/cloud systems for optimal business operations Research, design, and implement infrastructure solutions for internal customer needs, such as containerization, Kubernetes orchestration, and on‑demand scaling Design and configure secure virtualized environments aligned with enterprise architecture blueprints, including virtual machines, virtual networks, and distributed storage systems (SAN, HDFS, SSD, etc.) Contribute technical input into enterprise architecture blueprints and roadmaps based on hands‑on engineering experience Engineer and refine monitoring solutions, leveraging Dynatrace and Netcool for observability, monitoring, and alerting to ensure systems are configured correctly, run efficiently, and remain secure against potential threats Monitor and analyze resource utilization (CPU, memory, storage, network traffic) using Dynatrace, Netcool and other tools to ensure effective utilization and prevent runaway costs Configure and maintain Dynatrace dashboards to monitor and alert on hardware firmware versions and drift from current supported versions Proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks; lead capacity planning efforts based on usage trends and Dynatrace analytics Mentor and guide the team, fostering a culture of technical excellence Lead knowledge‑sharing sessions and contribute to team's learning Skills Required Hardware Experience, Computer Hardware Skills Preferred Server Administration, Ansible, Server Support, PowerShell Experience Required 10+ years of experience in server infrastructure, systems engineering, or related IT roles, with a minimum of 5 years working at an enterprise level Associate's degree or equivalent work experience In-depth knowledge of x86 server hardware, specifically CPU architecture, bus architecture, and expansion cards Expert-level knowledge of out-of-band (OOB) server management systems (e.g., iLO, DRAC) and hardware management systems (e.g., HPE OneView, HPE COM, OpenManage Enterprise) Extensive experience with Windows and Linux server operating systems; strong knowledge of TCP/IP, including DNS, DHCP, broadcast domains, and routing protocols Proficient scripting/automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or similar); experience with CI/CD development, automated server builds, and REST API integrations Solid experience with FMEA methodology, firmware lifecycle management, and hardware testing/certification Working knowledge of virtualization technologies, distributed storage systems (SAN, HDFS, SSD), and containerization Hands‑on experience with enterprise monitoring systems such as Dynatrace and Netcool Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects independently and mentor team members Strong analytical, documentation, and problem‑solving skills Excellent communication skills, with ability to collaborate across technical and business teams Experience Preferred Knowledge of MS Active Directory, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, and other cloud-like solutions Familiarity with storage systems, networking, data center facilities, and overall systems architecture Basic knowledge of cloud computing Performance tuning expertise Knowledge of SNMP, SMTP, and MFA (Multi‑Factor Authentication) methodologies Experience with SSL certificate management Experience with IT ticketing and workflow systems (e.g., BMC, ServiceNow) Experience using JIRA for workload and project tracking Knowledge of using and leveraging AI for automation, troubleshooting, documentation, and workflow design Internal certification testing methods Server test lab management Experience with server decommissioning and enterprise license management Vendor management experience Education Required Associate Degree Dexian is an Equal Opportunity Employer that recruits and hires qualified candidates without regard to race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, disability, or veteran status. #J-18808-Ljbffr Dexian
